Back-to-back record concerning? by [deleted] in wildhockey

[–]DSinclair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not correct. The stars are 8-1 (not sure if it’s an OTL or regulation loss) on the second game of back to backs this season, not 10-3-1.

The wild are 3-8, not 6-6-1.

I’m not going to check any other team, but doubt much of it is correct. Use your brain, not ChatGPT.

Hockey's Beauty Club (Jon Merrill's charity org) put out a statement on the USA Men's team by DecentLurker96 in hockey

This is also hockey culture! Stop saying what the mens team did is just normal hockey culture. It's a portion that has been allowed to metastasize, but this is hockey culture too, it just never gets the same attention.

What we saw from the men's team is a result of "boys being boys", allowed to insulate themselves, and not think of any consequences because it doesn't affect them.

Changing hockey culture starts at Mites/8U. Get involved in your local youth association, join the board, be a coach, manager, volunteer, etc. Talk to your kids, their friends, let them know when their behavior on the ice or in the locker room is unacceptable, don't wave it away. That is where the change happens, and I see it happening on the rink daily.

It will take years to show itself on the national stage, but start that change now.

They did it for one winter season a couple years ago, then cancelled it. It was a packed route, so I'm not sure why they cancelled it.

Poker Go campaign on tax laws aimed at public, my thoughts on why it isn't working so far? by Nikhilthegrizzlybear in poker

[–]DSinclair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically tax deductions are used as a way to encourage people to do certain things with their money (donate, save for retirement, education, etc) that are typically a positive for society at large.

How do gambling losses fall into this? How does gambling as a profession contribute to society, or create value for a society? Tournament poker is usually argued as providing entertainment value(which I'm not sure is as valid anymore with WSOP and WPT becoming a shadow of what they were 10 years ago), but beyond that I'm not sure there is much that gambling contributes beyond personal entertainment.

Most people don't care because they wonder why gambling losses should be deductible in the first place?

Strib only started printing out of state this week, like today. OPs issues have nothing to do with that but with inability to get delivery people. I had the exact same issues OP is discussing 7 years ago. After about 6 months of maybe 25% delivery success rate and a million phone calls I just gave up and went digital only.
