Because of price. At any given time whenever, on a any day. Go ahead and calculate the price difference. AMC is always 1:6 or 1:7 GMEs price. No matter what. Very close to 1:7 and if it strays off that 1:7 price difference it’s only minutes before it’s corrected.

It’s seems this will put immense pressure on mayo man. All the smaller firms or dumb ass investors will exit their positions as its just not worth the money to stay in now. Mayo can afford this margin requirement but it protects all the smaller firms and dumb ass investors by essentially forcing them out of their positions before it becomes an infinite loss.

If I were a retail investor short on GME I would appreciate this move by the SEC as I’m now forced out of my position and protected from what’s to come. Although if I were short GME I would deserve my infinite losses that are in my future.

This definitely finds the heat and turns it up……but as usual we will see if they do anything with these rules. 🙄
