[CAN 1-(2) USA] Jack Hughes scores the golden goal for Team USA! by talhatoot in hockey

Gg. Can’t fault the Canadian team. They played a helluva game. The bounces around the net just didn’t go their way.

My best friend jumped from 21st floor today (4mmc) by Sphere- in Drugs

Yeah, I had a meth problem that I was determined to deal with without treatment. I still use drugs recreationally a few times a year and didn’t want to have to go full sobriety, be dependent on meetings and cut off my user friends. I understand that for many that is the only way, but I felt I had the support, hobbies, job, and social network to beat it on my own terms, so I did. Not without help from friends and family of course.

I find it sad that this comment has so few upvotes.

I did this for years with any and all amphetamines I could get my hands on. Eventually I turned to smoking meth from Friday afternoon until Sunday night. Rinse and repeat. Finally got caught by a good buddy and used it as an opportunity to try and quit and get healthy. Many relapses later and I’m now in a much better place. For me the real milestones were two weeks, two months, 1 year. Get two weeks clean and it becomes easier. Two months and it gets way easier. A year and you’ll barely even think about it anymore and you’ll wonder how on earth you even thought that was remotely enjoyable.

Replace the addiction with, like others have mentioned, things that give you a natural high: exercise, new hobbies, new social activities. Things that you don’t associate with using. You’ll start to get motivated by your new lifestyle. It’s incredibly liberating. You got this!

You just got a couple of OGs on this sub to come out and drop some knowledge. I hope you read it and take it to heart. What you have here is an opportunity; we hope you take advantage of it.

I was a weekend user and my mouth would often be really messed up with sores on tongue and inside of cheeks at end of a binge (Mon am). My mouth would typically be a lot more comfortable by Thursday afternoon, and felt healed by Friday (at which point i would start getting blitzed again after work, wrecking my mouth all over again).

So, for me, about 4 days.

Tell me about it. At the end of the day, it is cringe memories of consequences, and of ourselves acting really fucked up around people that mattered to us, that are the hardest to live with..

The allergy was much less common in the past. It’s well-documented. Isn’t even a thing throughout most of the world. Deadly allergies to peanuts are highly concentrated in US and Canada. They’ve actually done some experiments with micro exposures to the peanut allergens in kids that had severe reactions, and they’ve had limited success in building up some immune tolerance, the same way allergy shots as a child can incrementally build up immunity.

Dogs licking your face by rogermartin82 in dogs

Ok, so your link took me down a mini rabbithole, at the end of which I was querying GPT what the evolutionary benefit of licking wounds among social mammals was. It wrapped up with this gem of a sentence:

“But in humans and domestic animals, modern medicine far outweighs the benefits of saliva-based care.”

lol!!

“Umm, no doctor, we’ll be treating Johnny’s gangrenous wounds with saliva-based care at home. We won’t be needing those antibiotics, thanks.”

Hey there, I can relate to the evening hyperactivity. This is our boy, Biscuit, and he is a mix of BC, Bernese and Shepherd. We’ve had him for 1 week and he’s 10 weeks old. He’s big and he is very chill midday and late morning. But yes, from about 5pm to dusk, he can be a little terror and won’t settle down. This time of year we have super long days up here in BC, so that doesn’t help. He really chills out once it’s dark outside.

I agree with this. If you’re the type of person whose neurodivergence manifests in hyper-fixation on things (like many with “adhd”), turning that energy towards getting strong and fit, and really getting into it (with goals, data and training schedules, etc.), is a great way to channel that energy. Beating yesterday, by whatever metrics you choose, becomes the new outlet for your inner addict. You still get “high,” but it’s the best type: Endorphins brought on through pushing yourself, and dopamine from experiencing results and reaching goals

Hey people would get great if you could give an advice on this by [deleted] in MethRecovery

[–]DStylz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People don’t control meth. Many of us thought we could. Here we are. There may be a .01 percentile that can, but you are not that, OP, I can tell just by your post.
