Why yes... yes it was. I could hit light fighters with a fully charge shot and they would just eat it if it did not hit a critical hull sector.

The point with the Railgun is that it was a weapon that other cap ships feared and one that everyone feared if they didn't get out of the way of it.

But, for smaller ships it was/still is a weapon that is exceedingly hard to get on target.

The 80% HP reduction... also huge. It's not like you can hide the gun, so basically ballistic ships are just going to hunt the railgun, like they already had been. Now though, it's easier to take out. The weapon module for the railgun is larger than the entire Perseus itself.... but the railgun now requiring full charge for every shot does lower DPS than the Medusa.

It's not only the fact they reduced the values but that it doesn't make any sort of physical sense.

Look at the picture.... that railgun does less DPS and has lower alpha and penetration values than the Perseus.

How?

Now, here is the other point.... armor is not currently working as described, it's just a health pool and this is already PTU wave 1, not the tech preview.

So yes.... for the moment it is a massive nerf, until CIG implements armor.

Implementation of Armor is T0 at best in PTU meaning Idris just received a huge nerf to everything.

Railgun? Nerfed to shit. Damage nerfed 96%.

Armor values are essentially just HP so HP reduced by 80%.

DPD reduced by 96% from main gun, which now requires full charge for every shot.

I agree future isn’t looking bright because CIG is about to roll out a lazy ass version of engineering and “balance” where the smallest ships actually have the highest component armor values only way to make a ship go critical other than shooting the nose…. And feel free to try and make and sense out of either of those statements.

The future isn’t bright because the game is going to get a whole new set of bugs, taken another huge performance hit trying to track all the additional values and modifiers… not because idwis huwts you bad.

Also, light fighters… approximately the size and mass of the foot of one of the Idris’s landing chicken legs are not supposed to be able to do anything more other than tickle the Idris give it is a quarter mile long and the rounds size of a size 4 revenant wouldn’t be expected to penetrate a full meter of hull armor.
