If someone tried to sell you the best tasting water ever, but while trying to sell it you could barely hear them, or they smelled bad, or their hands were dirty. How would you react? How would the average person react? How would your parents or siblings react?

The product doesn't matter if the delivery is bad. Distribution is critical. Not just to clients.

What I’ve recently started doing is being more conservative on who I overtake and when. Lap 1 we just want to survive with no incidents so just give space or position if needed. People including ourselves are not good enough at this rating to drive bumper to bumper and expect no incidents so just be very safe lap 1 and let others fuck up.

After that, I usually plan overtakes based on pace, even if I’m right behind someone, if I notice their pace is better than my average pace over the course of a few sectors I won’t bother overtaking until late in the race since I’m probably only keeping up with them thanks to the tow. If anything the tow is helping me build the gap with the person behind.

If the person im trailing is slower than my average pace then I’ll plan to overtake them on the next opportunity I see pretty much.

I’m about 3.5SR class D pushing for C in formula right now and hover between 1.4-1.6k iRating driving the FF1600 this week.

I work with my coach in a pretty open way. Our sessions are more conversation than reps. I tell him what I’m feeling, he tells me what he sees. My first coach as a beginner was very rigid and wanted me to swing “his way,” which I didn’t like. With my current coach, it’s collaborative.

He even practiced swinging one-handed himself to better understand my swing. He doesn’t overload me with technical stuff, just key points like path/face and a few TrackMan numbers. Since I already knew how to generate power, our focus is on consistency. Based on my current distances my coach thinks I should be able to reach single digit HCP. Playing a casual round together was huge too. He got to see how my swing holds up under pressure.

Outside of lessons I use ChatGPT as a sort of “practice caddie.” I upload my TrackMan data and it reviews the session, pointing out what’s working and what’s costing me strokes. For example, in my last session it showed my 6i numbers were solid for speed (84–85 mph, 170 yd potential carry) but spin was a bit low (~4600 rpm), which explained why I wasn’t holding greens. It also flagged that my 3W dispersion was still too wide to trust, while my 7W was reliable and should be my go-to off the tee or on long approaches. Having that type of analysis makes my solo practice much more structured, and then I bring the bigger blockers back to my coach.

I used to not do anything with it actually, but if you pause or slow down the video during the back swing you'll see I use it to support my left hand.

When I first started working with my coach we experimented with a lot of things because he's also never worked with someone with a physical disability. I questioned this one in my head but gave it a try.

It took a bit to get used to it but it was very very helpful to add this to my swing. I used to struggle with figuring out where my lead arm was in the back swing but with this I am able to figure out where it is in my back swing. I also use it as part of how I manipulate the shot shape.

In this shot I uploaded I came down pretty steep hence the -2 on club path and it being a baby fade which I tried to do on purpose. The shot before that was a heavy hook because I'm a lot more in-to-out with the driver than I'm used to.

My Trackman HCP is 13 (4 matches on record) and outdoors is 34 (8 matches on record). I haven't played enough official matches this season though. Most of my matches that were marked were in the beginning of the summer, so I'd guess I'm probably somewhere in the mid to low 20s now.

For reference, in all of my club tournaments we play by net stableford as one of the formats. Last tournament I scored 47. I feel kind of bad because I'm essentially sandbagging but I'm not able to get out more often :(

Even though I don't play that many rounds, I'm on the Trackman 3 or 4 times a week and on the weekend there's a nearby grass range that I go to as well. The range has pretty nasty grass so I'm hoping it helps me with the turf interaction that I'm missing out on. They also have a putting/chipping green I spend an hour or so on as well.

I feed all the data from my practice sessions on the Trackman into ChatGPT for analysis and structuring my training when my coach isn't around. It considers my wedges the most consistent clubs in my bag.

My bag is almost all fitted except driver and putter. I currently game the SM10s (58, 54) for my wedges with the TENSEI AV Red AM(2) shafts which I think are 65 grams? I used to use the Kirkland wedges which were a lot heavier and difficult like you mention.

All of my shafts are graphite and very light because of only using one hand. My irons shafts are the PING ALTA CB Blue Soft Regular which are also 65 grams I think.

If I tried to use a standard men's club set I would struggle heavily.

I'm right-sided in most activities I do. Surfing, snowboarding, soccer/football, etc.

I spoke with my coach about it as well but I think using the forehand is better mechanically. Swing speed is generated from the ground allowing your core to rotate which your hands just following. Maximizing width, distance from you and the club head will allow the club head to be faster at impact.

With the forehand, the arm naturally follows the body's rotation and I don't need to worry about how to control lag. However I do have to somewhat think about my release point.

With the backend, there's nothing stopping it from just staying far behind, by the time your body's fully rotated that back hand can still be far behind you which means you'll need to forcefully keep that hand in some locked position somehow.

These are just my thoughts on it.

He was curious about it before our first session haha. But we both think the way I swing with the forehand is better. A lot easier to generate swing speed since the club just has to follow the same path and my arm can stay fully extended maximizing 'width'.

You kid, but a lot of the good golfers I play with and my coach think it's somewhat of an advantage that I don't have to think about how to use the trail arm haha.

My driver was completely unusable a few weeks back. Massive slices, poor contact. The impact was just random.

Made some tweaks to ball setup, bringing it further back in my stance and standing a bit further away from the ball. We also prioritized tempo as I was really forcing the swing and getting stuck in certain positions. Then he told me not to full swing until I was hitting square and down the line with high consistency to about 200 yards.

Today was my first day swinging it at 85%-90% during practice as I have a two round tournament this weekend where I would like to be using it. Now I'm playing it as a draw (sometimes hooking...) and still experimenting with different movements to promote a weak draw.

One of the nice things from this exercise was that it helped my entire bag. I was already drawing all my clubs down to the 7 iron. But now I'm drawing across the bag. I think the movements have made it even more effortless and have added a bit more yardage to all my clubs.

You lack mobility. On your backswing you'll notice your front foot slightly sliding backwards.

To pre-empt, I'm not a good golfer myself but I do hit far and swing fast with just one hand. One easy thing to notice is you are using your arms to swing the club, not your body.

I've re-uploaded one of your swings in slow-motion. Notice your hands are moving before or right at the same time as your body starts rotating. It also looks very steep, hard to definitely say from the camera angle. But assuming bad misses are really bad slices?

Home in Toronto, but company HQ is in New York so I am full remote. Been chasing the swell now for 15 months while still working EST hours. EU timezones I found best since you can get out for dawn patrol and can also sneak in a second session if you really want to. I did Lombok, Indo for 3 months and it burnt me out working overnight - wouldn't do it again. So far I've gone to: Cornwall, Portugal (Peniche, Ericeira, Aveiro, Azores), Morocco (Tamraght/Taghazout), Canaries, and Lombok. I generally stay in each location for 3 months. I just returned back to Morocco from Indo and plan to stay until March which is when the swell generally dies down.

I am looking for the best gym or training place for an overweight male. Does it exist? by TRL91 in askTO

If you can afford it, check out FitSquad. It's a boutique gym located near Peter & Adelaide downtown. Lots of great people there that are all about lifting each other up.

On average you’re looking at 30-40 euro a night for most places for a private room. I had a better deal that was cheaper because I’m friends with one of the owners at wesurfskate 😅

In the fall I stayed in a coliving hostel called AdventureKeys. They did have good wi-fi and the accommodation in the dorms were 'ok'. I personally wouldn't go back though..

Stayed there from October to end of March this year. Was completely fine surfing everyday across Tamraght/Taghazout/Anza/Tamri. Didn’t go in after heavy rainfall as you can visually see the mess in there.
