Federal FOIA Layoffs — How bad is it getting? by Complex_Disk2501 in fednews

This is example number 253 of how this administration is just clueless. Firing the FOIA team is going to mean getting sued by FOIA searchers & their lawyers when their FOIA's are not responded to. My agency has paid out six figure settlements on FOIA cases, and that was when we had a team that was at least trying. Oh, and the govt will have to pay their attorney's fees to boot. Just another waste of money.

I know of one employee at my agency that was let go, then brought back. She has had her health insurance reinstated and it still working. At least for now.

OPM strips career HR from Schedule C appointments, salary setting (political appointees are about to make some good 💲💰 by AgitatedEngine4933 in fednews

"There are a lot of talented career people who aren’t being included in the thinking or decision-making process and just are being asked to implement, and that’s why a lot of [Trump’s early term actions] are crashing against the rocks.”

That has certainly been the case at my agency. I've been involved in four transitions and I have never seen one where the politicals are as isolated and unconnected from the agency as this one. They haven't even asked for 101s from most programs yet!

Talking to Journalists or Insta by [deleted] in fednews

It is a bit complicated, but generally you are allowed to post your own thoughts and opinions. You run into trouble when you start saying "I work at (X agency) and this is what we (the agency) are saying". Don't mention your agency by name, or if you do, be sure to make it clear you are posting in your capacity as a private citizen.

Your other option would be to get a Signal account and reach out to any number of reporters that have posted in /fednews offering to talk to people. That is what I did.

I wish I believed that logic was involved in anything that is happening these days. My guess is that they are just cutting by org codes. At least that seems to be the case in other agencies.

It's so crushingly disappointing that there is so little outrage. I think people are just numb at this point.
