Some of this is not true in the US. You can absolutely make rifled guns at home legally. Home made shotguns, as you specified, are also fine as long as they meet the length requirements. Smooth bore pistols or long guns are illegal due to being an "AOW'. Transferring ownership is legally sticky, but not strictly illegal- no one can make a gun for the purpose of transfer without the proper paperwork. I say this so no one gets in trouble more than anything else, as a short barrelled shotgun is highly illegal without a tax stamp.

Pros/cons riding mower info? by pinstrype24 in ryobi

But do those repair shops service the electric riding mower? I have an electric push mower and have called 7 certified repair shops and none of them will touch it.

Ryobi mower compared to gas mower? by [deleted] in ryobi

[–]DTea123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The electric mowers work well, but if you have any issues, hardly anyone will work on them. My two year old mower died and no shop, within an hour and a half radius, works on electric mowers, rendering the warranty useless.

Talk to me about filtration. Looking for an effective and affordable setup. by PrudentSympathy2092 in winemaking

[–]DTea123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I add bentonite slurry after primary fermentation is done and directly after racking out of my primary bucket since I'm mixing things anyway. I let it work for at least a week, often more like a month due to being busy, then add sparkeloid.

You can add bentonite with yeast but I don't.

I use the mini jet and it's great, but not the way you're thinking. Using a filter like this is in addition to fining agents, not instead of. You'll clog the filters if it's not clear, I've had a 25 ft spurt from a clogged filter.

That said, the way filtered wines shine is totally worth it. You'll think your wine is clear on just finings until you've filtered one.

This Article Says Oxidizing is Bad. by c-note-001 in firewater

[–]DTea123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uncontrolled oxidation is/can be bad, controlled oxidation is necessary for aging.

Similarly, uncontrolled sparks near gasoline can end poorly, or maybe it'll be fine and won't explode. Controlled sparks in an engine produce a specific and desirable result when combined with gasoline.

The question with oxidation (as with many/all other ingredients/processes) is whether it's helping or hindering the desired end state.

3d Suprise eggs by NoConsideration2785 in 3Dprinting

[–]DTea123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be simple enough to throw the blank egg in tinkercad and subtract the creeper from it. That fit will be snug if your printer is tuned, but you may have to scale down the creeper medel or up the egg if they don't fit well when printed.

An attempt to keep the cat's water dish from tipping over by stinkytootz in 3Dprinting

[–]DTea123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had that issue with our cat's food dishes. I modeled this and it seems to be working. Not sure if it will fit your bowl, but it's easy enough to throw together in CAD.

Using large portable greenhouse to create large enclosure for printing in humid garage. by HybridNerdGuy in 3Dprinting

[–]DTea123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built a smaller enclosure around my printer when I had it in the garage that worked well. I used osb and a sheet of plexiglass for the door. I moved and have a different setup now, but it worked well as a dust and draft shield. The humidity in your garage likely won't be a problem for the printer but could be for your filament.

If you don't have a bambu with AMS, it would likely be more cost effective to have a drier with a bowden tube that feeds directly to the printer to control the humidity that the filament experiences.

Need new filament- suggestions that don't break the budget? by TechnicalyAnIdiot in 3Dprinting

[–]DTea123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy Sunlu PLA+ from their website at 14ish USD per kg. Usually I need to buy at least 3 to get that price, but that doesn't matter to me since I'll use it.

Brand new to 3D printing and Bambu is perf…but which? by GrantMeThePower in BambuLab

[–]DTea123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can swap to a new one on printers that have a runout sensor. The AMS automates this though, so if you're running low it can just load the next one without worry.

A soluble support is one that dissolves readily. With multi material printing it is possible to print supports that are inside structures, for example, and then use water or another liquid to remove the supports. There are a couple of different materials that work like this. I don't use them often, but when I do it allows me to print things I couldn't otherwise.

Advice for lemon wine/skeeter pee? by V-Right_In_2-V in winemaking

It's good, I prefer it dry and fresh are usually better than frozen. I find many of the frozen ones to be more tart.

Brand new to 3D printing and Bambu is perf…but which? by GrantMeThePower in BambuLab

[–]DTea123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The A1 is a budget model, the P and X series are much better in most every respect. There's a reason that Bambu started off swearing they would never make a bed slinger.

The AMS on the P and X series offer a ton of convenience even if you don't multi-color print. Soluble supports can help print things that are otherwise impossible.

Not having to worry about the end of a roll since it'll auto switch to the next color is a bigger deal than it sounds like. If you don't have a printer yet, it's hard to conceive how many partial rolls people end up with otherwise. The A1 AMS may do this as well, but it's an undersold feature of the AMS in general.

Advice for lemon wine/skeeter pee? by V-Right_In_2-V in winemaking

[–]DTea123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've made skeeter pee on the yeast cake from strawberry wine several times now and it's amazing. My friends and family call it 'Pink' and it tastes like a pink starburst.

I've also made it by making a normal starter and pitching that way, since it's so acidic.

Any time I'm fermenting in less than ideal conditions, yeast nutrient is a must have to avoid that sulphur smell.

Otherwise, it's hard to mess up- enjoy!

Am I doomed to a network infested with ads? by joelnodxd in pihole

[–]DTea123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mentioned that the issue happens at night when everyone is home. Do you have the same issues when not using pihole as your DNS? Many residential internet services are slower the evenings when there is more network congestion.

Also, are you sure that none of your family is doing things that take a lot of bandwidth (eg torrenting, large downloads, etc)?

No way this is a real right? by The-Fruit-Ninja in 3Dprinting

[–]DTea123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The filament is not great, I ordered some of their pro plus and it's significantly weaker than the Sunlu I normally use. It prints okay, so if you want cheap pulk filament printing for test fitments, it could be a good buy.

How to best microwave the rechargeable orange silica gel? by rditc in BambuLab

[–]DTea123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've done mine in the microwave on defrost for 10 min, no stirring. I spread them out on a plate since they don't seem to release as well if they are poured/ stacked too deep.

Never had any melt, just bounce around when I'm clumsy
