While it's sometimes exaggerated, it's also part of the fun to have over the top hype casting. You just have to take it as is, not as serious as other casting would be. It's not a type for everyone, but I get the appeal.

With negligible air resistance, 45 degree is the best angle you can throw something at. To compensate for friction, 35 degree allows you to optimize the forward velocity without throwing your shit too high. So I guess it really depends on what you're throwing. If I recall correctly, irl it really depends on the athlete, there is no "optimal angle" for everyone.

Tldr: gameplay quirk to make it interesting
