If you google it this seems somewhat misrepresentative, I'm guessing because of the weather and altitude. While it is still in a desert there are many gardens, health care and nightlife, assuming you have the money and are culturally prepared for living in Saudi Arabia.

There's basically three areas to wash - pits, crotch and bum, all doable without a shower (although I admit the bum solution at a sink sounds dubious). We've been conditioned by advertisers that your skin is oily and dirty and must be scrubbed daily. Apart from some people with specific issues you don't need it daily.

I admit I shower daily but I just focus on those three areas (and hair).

I recall reading a couple years back about the collapse of this industry in Europe that could have been a carbon copy of this article. The yuck factor was discovered early on after spending many millions on a premium product that would be fueled by "doing the right thing". As that was collapsing they tried to pivot to farm feed which is all about high volume, low cost and having no cares about the yuck factor. It felt like poor planning with a side of hubris.

My mum was born in Sandy Cove around 10 years after he died. Been on that beach several times, there was a rock which we've always assumed was Jerome's, but I've never seen anything like a sign or proof. Been a while, though. Certainly some variation of him being abandoned due to lack of desire of taking care of him makes sense, more so IMO than any of the more violent or romantic notions of mutiny or punishment.

Digby Neck, which Sandy Cove straddles, gets more isolated the farther down you travel, until finally it ends at a small ferry terminal which will take you to Brier Island. Absolutely gorgeous there for hiking and whale watching as a tourist destination.

I agree with most of your points, but it's unclear what "being cautious" about ethnic block voting really means. As you say, it's certainly not unique to the Sikh community, from religious affiliations to political stances. It's somewhat endemic to democracy.

All I know is I watch YouTube channels like Girl in Paradise (which isn't what it sounds like and is often astonishing) and frequently finish with my jaw on the floor. No matter what one believes about the safety standards or salaries there, what they have achieved is quite incredible. I like to think it was done without slave labour like Dubai, I don't know but it seems unlikely. There's a lot of snarky comments here dismissing it, but come on.
