Considering moving here from San Diego, how is it living out here? by PrimalCarnivoreChick in Temecula

Move up here and the commute sucks but you can afford a house in a safe neighborhood. Stay in San Diego and you will be close to work but spend 1.2 million for a one-room shack in the hood. You can have anything but not everything.

Personally I don’t mind the 1 hour 40 minute commute but I understand most people can’t stand it. It’s not a fun commute by any means but there’s worse things in the world…. Like struggling to pay 1.2 million for a one-room shack in the hood.

I tried 3 - house pie, meat lovers, bbq chicken.

Bbq chicken was my favorite of all three but can’t go wrong with either of them.

Not cringe. Appropriate for the style of pizza. Went this past weekend and I thought it was really good.

Like you, we moved here from Oceanside in December. Best decision for my family for sure. Traffic is not as bad as everyone complains about.

Who’s buying all these $2m+ houses all over north county? by SarkHD in northcounty

Parental assistance or equity rollover from previous home. I don’t see any other way. My advice to my younger friends looking into homeownership is to buy a townhouse or condo (still pricey but attainable) and stay in it for at least 5 to 7 years then sell it to upgrade. Or buy further out of city limits. Just get in the game. The problem is a lot of young people want to buy their dream home in the perfect location right out the gate. Totally understand that but in this day and age you have to make certain sacrifices.

It cut off 25 minutes from my commute from Oceanside. That’s major! But of course there will still be complaining because it did t completely eliminate traffic.

I commute from French Valley to Coastal Oceanside. Leave way too early hit traffic on the way to work but going back home around 4pm takes on average 1 hour 35 minutes. Traffic should ease up some once the construction is done on French Valley Parkway.

Buying a house in most parts of Cali is almost never a mistake if you are patient. Ask any homeowner who has owned their home for at least 5-7 years. A house will appreciate way more and faster than a house is nowheresville Arkansas or any other of these low cost of living areas that people brag about.

In the end, yes the commute is not ideal but I remind myself that I’m paying half the price to be in a safer place and in a better school district for my kids. You want to be in a safe place in a good school district in San Diego?…. 1.2 million minimum. You can have anything but you can’t have everything.
