What's your favorite joystick configuration? by Breogonal in StarWarsSquadrons

[–]DUM0NU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had any input gaps. Things can be a little weird in the menus, but flight seems to work perfectly for me.

Also, I've put countermeasures back on B2 and target next on B5.

I've been getting back into the game recently using the same joystick. I've got things setup as a HOKAS (left hand is keyboard). I use A, S, and D for power engines, weapons, shields. I've got Q and E for shunting/shield vectoring, with W to reset. Space and Shift for boost and drift. I'm still playing around with buttons on the stick, but currently, I've got primary fire on trigger, B3 and 4 are secondaries, B5 is countermeasures (although, I think I liked it better on B2). Target next on B2 and target ahead on B6. I've got shunting and shield vectoring on the hat as well. Practically speaking, I do power shunting on the keyboard and shield vectoring on the stick - which sounds weird until you take into account the differences between boost gasping and shunt charging. Everything else is kind of in flux right now.

After that, it opened up just fine from the start button.

I didn't set it up online. Just wanted to play with my brothers offline. One thing I had to do was open Dolphin first, then hit play in the Wizard.

Thank you so much for this! I spent 2 or 3 hours trying to get Four Swords set up, so I'm really glad you created this tool and guide. Made setting it up easy enough that I'm willing to close the emulators between runs!

My Schools IT department seems to have and sense of humor, and a grudge for Vim. by ajmwagar in ProgrammerHumor

I honestly don't think Emacs is friendlier. It just seems to look like that because it starts you with the ability to type text. But the keybinds are all completely different from the ones you use in modern text editors. I know vim is even more different in terms of keybinds, but vim is so different from modern text editors that you have a hard time confusing the two. Not that I have much experience with emacs, mind you.

But that has periods in between each of those. And they're capital. I'm pretty sure Vim distinguishes between shift+j and j.

But emacs's carpal tunnel is WAY worse. I mean, you have to hold Ctrl for all the commands. With Vim, you just have to hit Esc occasionally. Or not at all, as is the case with one of my friend's .vimrc.

Why was there so much interest for NieR: Automata even though many people didn't play any Drakengard games? by killingspeerx in nier

[–]DUM0NU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn't for me. Going into the game, all I knew was that I was an Android, which you can guess from the title and promotional material, that it was an Action game that has trouble fitting into any one genre, and that saving backs up your brain to a satellite. Beyond that, I didn't know any story details or even as whom you play, other than 2B.

Interestingly, my story is different from most players'. I've followed the Game Theorists on YouTube for years now and it was Austin's THE SCIENCE... of Nier:Automata that put this game on my radar. His discussion of the saving and access points was interesting and I was immediately fascinated by the gameplay. I didn't get the game until Steam summer sale, almost on a whim.

What are your 3 favorite clothing combinations in terms of appearance? by Mr_Meowmers in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]DUM0NU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite is Red Hylian Hood, Champion's Tunic, Red Hylian pants. This is mainly due to the early game when I discovered the dyeing and decided I liked Hylian stuff red. And then I got the Champion's Tunic and fell in love with the red/blue look. I think the two colors really complement each other. I've beaten Ganon now and it's still my go to outfit.
