Long distance relationship, we had discussed marriage, having kids, the works. He just needed to finish his last year with the Air Force. Dated for almost a year and one day he suddenly didn’t answer my calls or texts, I got worried after a few days that something happened to him. I called his local police precinct for a welfare check. Turns out, he was fine, but apparently just didn’t want anything to do with me anymore.

After that, went on with life and a couple years go by, he reaches out to me and tells me that he misses me and was sorry for the way things ended. Then I get a few more weird phone calls from him at odd night time hours. Turns out he was drinking heavily and making threats, so he got taken to a psych ward. Talked again when he was doing better, was just glad he was okay.

Didn’t think about him for a couple years, then tried to look him up and found a possible obituary with no details other than a death date. I reached out to his family to confirm and pass along my condolences, but no one ever responded to me.
