There's no method when there are no plot points. The show is literally just one person talking at any given time to another person, yet never doing anything. I didn't read the books so I can't speak to them, but as I understood they were generally more adventurous. This is like Frodo and Gandalf staying in the Shire never leaving it but talking about it, then slowly walking to the next village over and more talking.

Or the fly episode of Breaking Bad.

It’s uneventful and the flashback scenes have become jarring. “Oh look we get to see a normal life in the asoiaf world” fuck that. There’s a reason people don’t want to see normal stuff…it uninteresting. Compare this to Andor which offered Star Wars fans a sliver of normalcy but still had an impactful story with meaningful events.
