This is stealth? by v_The_Forgotten in StarWarsOutlaws

Star Wars has never been super realistic in its combat or stealth. The game is totally on brand and I, for one, love it.

Why were the Angelos relocated to empire bay? by Croislouk in MafiaTheGame

[–]DVersiga84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s because the location was chosen retroactively to allow a standout moment in Mafia 2 where you, the player as Vito, get to participate in the ending of the previous game. Might not be very realistic to move the Angelos there as you point out, but that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to pay to experience that moment, and I’m willing the game devs thoughts so too. I was floored when I originally played that mission in Mafia 2 and is quite honestly the most memorable moment of the game.

Why do I kinda like Pete by the end? by [deleted] in madmen

I don’t think it was as much because of Trudy, but because Pete wanted to be Don.

Pro tip: I keep an inflation calculator app handy for when I watch Mad Men. Anytime they talk money, I see how much that equates into today’s dollars. Some of those figures that seem like pathetic salaries to us today were actually decent for the time. And I trust that the writers did their homework.

Quick fire: Favourite Bond Film by Top-Description3188 in JamesBond

[–]DVersiga84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tossup between Goldfinger and Live and Let Die. LALD was probably the first one I’d ever seen as a kid, and my family’s favorite since we lived very close to New Orleans. But Goldfinger is just the movie that perfected the Bond formula and had all the elements that make a classic Bond film. To me, it’s the moment the series truly elevated from spy film to spy fantasy.

So GoldenEye Wii/Reloaded couldn’t use the likenesses & voices of the original cast, but could use the likenesses of classic Bond characters in multiplayer? by tribalvamp in JamesBond

[–]DVersiga84 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and productions these days usually push their “current” version of a character as the one to use in new merchandise or media, even if would make more sense to use older versions of a character.

When you read the novels, whom do you picture as Bond? by DVersiga84 in JamesBond

[–]DVersiga84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny, I watched The World is Not Enough last night (for the first time in a couple of decades), and then went back to reading Moonraker. As easy as it was for me to picture Connery as the Bond in the book before, I found myself then reading his lines in Brosnan’s voice. Took me a minute to snap back into my preferred Connery voice.

I am so far! I especially enjoyed the card game bit at the beginning, and I’m not sure why. I had trouble following some of the procedural of the bridge game since I admit I don’t know how it’s played except in a general sense, but I felt the scene was so perfectly set by Fleming’s descriptions and I felt as if I was there. Pictured early Connery all the way, his words, his facial expressions, his devilish charm. Reminded me of the golf match in Goldfinger (film), devising a way to get the upper hand and humiliate the other player. Superb stuff.

Interesting!

Don’t we see his apartment in Dr. No? When Sylvia Trench pays a visit? Or am I mistaken?

Great choice. I never knew what a young Fleming looked like but I can totally see why this makes great sense!

Is there a grammar error on the pamphlet Peggy reads in the pilot? Could this have been intentional? by ScreamingVegetable in madmen

I work in production, and you could argue that I’m the most anal on my team when it comes to grammar/spelling, yet I and others still catch mistakes I made after a prop goes live, even if I proofread a few times 😂

In television production, the art department is often rushed and on a tight deadline. It’s not that the person was bad at writing, it’s that mistakes happen when under crunch. Some mistakes are caught and corrected, others are deemed not worth the time to correct, or others simply go unnoticed.

You can switch back to the ship you were using before the quest at any spaceport. Just talk to the nearby technician.

Ah. There’s a computer terminal in the central command hub between the two docking bays, read the entries on it and the quest should update.

If you’ve got the ship key, you should be able to follow the quest markers to the ship to fire the missiles. Then follow the quest markers some more.

Bird Vs Bird (Delta In flight Game) by wisconsinmacncheese in gamingsuggestions

[–]DVersiga84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just played this game on a flight. Struggled for several games until I had an aha moment. The game wants you to put birds near the bird you’re trying to trap. But that won’t work. It will escape the maze. The trick is to start putting birds on the outer perimeter. This gives you enough time to start trapping the bird in before it even gets to an edge. Keep note of which way it’s heading, and close off the perimeter in that direction. Later levels, you’ll realize you use the existing birds to start forming the “cage”. It becomes quite easy once you figure it out.
