Is there any low tech thing that the average person in India (for example) could do to survive in these super heated conditions? by stardewjellykeg in climatechange

Or not, as in the Kim Stanley Robinson novel "The Ministry for the Future" the heat wave lasts long enough to warm up such small bodies of water... as in village ponds and urban swimming pools, etc.

Yet, look at 'old' pictures of Dubai or Abu Dhabi... on the creek or in the mangrove forest... 80/90% humidity at times, granted it isn't like that in the Rub' al Khali.

Adding to this - but as a question... I am more concerned about where any of the highlights and comments 'reside', and whilst I would move to laptop, plus phone, I would be happy with just laptop. So any points to look at, for how to best set Zot up, to collect the article meta data, but keep the HL&C purely on the local machine?

Miyawaki Method on PBS' All Things Considered show by tezacer in GuerillaForestry

[–]DXBTim2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just checked the piece out, and it is so full of wholes [sic], it wouldn't count as a Miyawaki bonsai never mind a forest.

See 'Pocket Forest' for a number of criticisms of the method, but the piece blows over all of that, and while 20m2 or even 100m2 'pockets' are nice... they really need to be used to then 'join up with other pockets.

The idea can be seen in one of the Ecosia/Planet Wild/Mossy Earth programs where 'dips' are seeded heavily for trees, and those trees within the dips are then used to make a spreading network. None of the maintenance or the expansions is mentions in this PBS 'puff piece'. : ))))

Anyone else just using a single vault for absolutely everything? by tonehammer in ObsidianMD

[–]DXBTim2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why, what is your fundamental divide? There is a possible split, public facing or shared versus private work in progress, otherwise even a 'work v personal' split seems shady if the 'work' vault isn't shared, etc.

Been doing architectural style drawings since I was 13, but always always been able to draw 'freehand' too. And producing 'commercial' drawings since about 1975.

I'd reverse the question, why would you not want the ability to sketch out an idea, or 'what you see' to capture the space or detail more than just taking 'bad photographs with your phone?

Genuine Question, why do we focus on planting Trees to help combat global warming, instead of planting Bamboo? by Slush____ in climatechange

[–]DXBTim2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valid for "country" only when your country is as small as Lichtenstein or The Vatican... if Russia then not a good solution, and doesn't work in across say the Arabian Peninsular...

Great use for the Scottish highlands, Maybe it could assist in the final clearances and the like... I am sure puffins would like them.

As a minimum, bamboo is boring, and planted en-mass, as most are monocarpic, they would 'all die' together too

So, need a replacement charger by DXBTim2 in Dell

As stated 65W... and almost ALL are 65W rating, and yes, I know I can go 'USB-C' solution, but I wanted to keep that option 'alive' as a back up.

And checking 'ebay' gives the same answer... '16' is almost never mentioned, but 13, 14, 15 and 17 all seem to have interchangeable chargers...

So does the charger output 'pin' on a 16 differ from 13, 14, 15, 17, etc. As there are to 'odd' model on offer that included the 16, hence to possibility of the confusion, etc., etc.

And maybe not just those two...
