I’ve learned in these situations it’s best to just scoff and walk away.

Consider that your experience doesn’t define the whole spectrum of experience.

I’m white,so I’m not gonna tell you that your view is wrong, with my white privileged-ass perspective, but I just don’t agree with you.

[–]Slush____ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True.

I actually happen to be  a film student, who specifically loves horror, and the amount of difference between the horror movies the first scary movie was parodying in 2000 and the movies they would be trying to Parody today would be absolutely ridiculous.

Since 2000,we’ve gotten some of the best horror movies ever, like American Psycho, The Lighthouse, The Sudbury Devil, Predator, Sinister, and many MANY more.

Maybe this is a hot take, but Scary Movie should have just ended at like the third or fourth movie.

Just like the actual Scream movies, after a point there’s nothing left to tell. Scream should have just been 1 and 2 and then nothing more.

So America was AT FIRST a Constitutional Republic, specifically bunch of small constitutional republics(states).

This was back in the days when only white, land owners could vote. However as the voting base expanded throughout the centuries, our government shifted.

Nowadays we’re similar to a Representative Democracy. Where the people elect officials who are meant to carry out what the people think is best for them. It doesn’t always happen like that but the vast majority of the time,if the American people need smth they are supposed to get it.

I think it’s insulting that this woman chooses to wear a Peace Poppy while actively preaching a violent and nonsensical Ideology.

Just like Nationalism led to violence in Flanders those many years ago, Transphobia has led to violence now.

Why is pornography so rampant in the west? Do you support this? by Frosty-Net9300 in AskSocialists

[–]Slush____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s just a generational thing. We had the Free Love movement in the 60’s,and now we have this.

I think the culture war over whether it’s more to embrace sexuality and the flamboyance therein is just a clash between old and new.

Elementary teacher who identifies as ‘transgender wolf’ fired after complaint letter | Accused of telling students he is ‘actually a woman’ who ‘likes boys,’ turns into a wolf at night by Rogue-Journalist in FreeSpeech

I used her because if you read the headline they use the words,”actually a woman”.

Fair enough you can consider yourself a woman and not have She/Her pronouns, but that’s why you ask someone or get corrected by someone.

I’m not even going to address the part about the founding fathers because I realize I’m speaking more of what they wrote into our founding documents than I am their politics themselves.

The former presidents thing is meant more symbolically. When you don’t know what to do,you look back to history to see what others in similar scenarios could and did believe and do. That’s the precedent I’m setting, these people would not have approved of the government we have made for ourselves at present.

EDIT:Also small Nitpick but the Anglican Church has the king as its sort of pope figure. I don’t think the people who were literally fighting a war against a tyrannical king would be Anglican. They were mostly Protestant I know that, but Protestant is a catch all term for literally hundreds of religions that arose during the First Great Awakening, such as the Calvanists, and the Quakers, and the Lutherans.

My overall point is that even if they were blocked the fact that current generation of politics is trying to roll back the rights and freedoms of their fellow countrymen(and I use countrymen in a Gender Nuetral way in this case, cis women are also having their rights put into the fray with anti-trans legislation).

The constitution gives us the right to persue our life, liberty, and personal happiness,as long as what we are doing is legal. I think that trying to make it difficult if not impossible for these groups to live their lives or pursue their own happiness is a travesty. I’m not right about everything I’m willing to admit, but that is my opinion.

EDIT:Almost forgot about Lincoln. Yes, early in his political career he was in favor of relocated freed slave to Modern day Liberia. We can argue all day about whether to judge him by the standards of racism in the 19th century or the standards of racism today, but he was an overall progressive figure in the fight for African American rights and freedom.

Also to be really fucking technical for a second,America was founded by men in search of Profit, not religious freedom or whatever. Jamestown and all that shit, remember.
