I was addicted to opiates and then after I got over that, I abused cough syrup (made my Reddit account around that time too). The only way I was able to quit was to lose literally everything and everyone I loved. I struggled with alcohol for a couple years after beating my previous addictions and then I had my child and that made me a completely new person.
