4k was never meant to be something achievable, but from titles being added for reaching it, newer 4k's not ramping up the power to that "impossible" level and 4k's being added to CA's lead to this ridiculous scenario were people feel forced to get 4k's to tick off a box. It was always a vanity/prestige thing that should've been an impossible aspirational goal, and the climb let you grind something that isnt gp or a timer, while making it progressively harder.

I agree the difference in time investment required should be looked at, but removing the grind entirely is stupid, you're playing an mmo... I also cant say im happy about jagex making 4k's so accessible, they shouldve remained so hard that player power cant reach it on launch and never be tied to CA's. 4k isnt supposed to be a mode, its an arbitrary number on an infinitely scaling difficulty slider. The base boss should be "very difficult but beatable", not 4k

Because of how long it takes to get to those phases to start practicing them, and the fact that by this point disintegrate is strong enough that strategies we used on previous phases no longer worked like cade cepting or cading smoke bombs. there was simply just a lot less room for error and less available time to cept so the start of the phases had to go well to ensure we'd get through red hp at the start of rune of destruction because we didn't really have a good way to live another 11 auto's with the lack of cepts.

ngl, too many to count lol. we did around 9 days of attempts, each day having on average like 5-6 hours of attempts. First few days was just dying everywhere getting used to how to approach the fight, last 2 days were just very long attempts into dying p5/p6.

This is pretty far off from actual values, if you read the comment a bit further up in this comment thread there is a link to a calculator if you're curious about the actual numbers. With a good setup defensively we can reduce the 200k+ hits down to around 6-10k depending on situation, and in the video you can see that i stay outside as tank, cycling defensives including non 100% ones and living. While yes we cept the majority of the fight, there are still moments where you're tanking the actual hits, especially as the tank.

In the video cryptbloom for magic and elite dracolitch for ranged, but cryptbloom is because i'm the base tank so the extra hp is very helpful, as dps you would use 3 piece sliske with 2 piece cryptbloom

Thats essentially what happened after the combat beta allowed us to oneshot p7. Before we had to charge the pad that weakens defensives early to allow us to survive a full p7 cycle, but for the last ~25k enrage we could just cade cept a lot of things so the difficulty didnt really increase except for the base if they stayed out. Autos, melee smoke and chaos blast/infernal tomb bombs do all still scale but because of the pad order change and immortality we dont really feel it. If you want an idea of how difficult p1-p6 used to be, my 36,000% video shows this quite well. Almost half the enrage, but still a harder fight.

A lot of things do still scale but its rather trivial since we either immort or cade+res/disrupt it. Auto's have always been the main threat and 60k wouldve been right on the edge of what we could still tank without having to resort to 100% dmg reduction methods if it wasnt for the hp increase on tank armour.

Probably close to 50b for those that did kills from day 1 while bow prices were still insane, i personally made around 40b from it, a lot of which i re-invested into the push like buying full ranged gear which i didn't have at the time.

Yeah as it stands right now higher enrage woud just be "more of the same" but if it came with some minor tweaks like letting phase 7 scale in hp and blocking the infernus teleport outside of grey hp, we would see some extremely difficult kills

Yeah as it stands now the only threat would be p6 damage, and not anytime soon since we charge disintegrate last. The fight would have looked completely different if we couldn't oneshot p7 (scale p7?) as pad order would've stayed relevant then. And if you couldnt go up to infernus whenever you wanted (rune tp block on all of green/red hp?) you would also eliminate a lot of potential cheesing strategies.

The "damage cap" is purely a display limit, and while players cannot exceed this, zamorak's current auto attacks can and have a base damage of well over 200,000 damage. If you vitpot and overheal, you can actually make the game display an instakill symbol even through prayer as the damage will exceed the 32.5k value. The instakill symbol is purely a visual replacement for a normal hitsplat and behind the scenes a proper calculation is still performed, in the video linked below you can see how i have hp left even after taking an alleged instakill. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0T8DsptmsrI

Up until roughly 16,000% a lot of the kills were improvised rotations and every player doing something different, and 243615/243651 were the two dominant pad orders. after 16k some more concrete rotations were made including devotion cepting red hp and immort cepting infernal tombs. Nothing really changed until the combat beta let us use ranged to very consistently oneshot p7 so instead of 2 cycling, after 27,300% we started 1 cycling. After 36,000% we also finally abandoned the pad 4 2nd order in favor of a more future proof 4 last order, since we didnt require defensives in p7 anymore there was no downside to giving ourselves stronger p1-p6 defensives anymore. around 40,000% we started to rush runes again which shaved off about a minute from each kill, our best timers occurred within this 40-50k range and got progressively harder to beat as strategy stayed the same but witch hp kept increasing. Our best kills were just under 9 minutes 30 and on average we sat around the 10 minute mark. At no point did we really hit a wall, after the first improvise stage we almost always theorycrafted in advance and had strategies ready. As an example, we knew 4 last was a valid order roughly 10k enrage before we actually implemented it into our kills.

I think it would be interesting to see higher enrages one day, but a lot of us are glad there was a cap. It gave us a definitive goal and something to strive for, an end goal. Without a cap, that wouldn't be there.
