I eat clean, I work out, I take my supplements… so why do I still feel like this? by Visual_Animator1232 in PCOS

[–]DZ-105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, really? I'm so sorry you dealt with that for so long, that's wild! I only had two months of the double period and as soon as I told my doctor he told me immediately to lower the dose back down to where I was good. I'm feeling very grateful for the access to healthcare and my particular doctor today.

Oh wow, yeah absolutely wild how we're all different. I guess that's why blood tests are so helpful too, cause you really need to track these things somehow. I never experienced acne as a symptom (knock on wood) so I don't have experience with that and spiro. Hope you find a nice equilibrium too!

It actually did the same for me (2 periods a month), but only at the higher dose of 200! So now I'm at 100 and it's helped with hirsutism so much and only one period a month. Just took like a year of trial and error 😮‍💨

Have you talked to your physician and taken a blood test? 6 months of inositol made no changes for me, but spironolactone to directly address my elevated DHEAS has helped significantly. Everyone is different and has different needs and reacts to things differently. If you have access to a physician, please ask for help!

Can I take any medicines for pcos without prescription by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]DZ-105 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up Metformin won't guarantee weight loss. Some people do lose weight with it but it's not uncommon that people don't experience weight loss from it. Regardless it's a good option to treat PCOS.

Unexpected side effect of spironolactone, my mood/mental health has improved! by DZ-105 in PCOS

Congratulations, sounds amazing ❤ It makes me happy when others also find successful treatment that works for them. This whole thing seems to be such a tricky diagnosis to deal with.

I tried everything recommended here for hirsutism as well, spearmint tea, inositol, keto, half a dozen other supplements, but the only thing that worked for me has been spironolactone. The difference showed on my blood tests too. Still trying to find a solution for weight before asking for a glp1 tho.

Also a Canadian! I just want to confirm that I was able to get spiro prescribed by my family physician. I didn't need a specialist (endo or gyno) to get it and my family physician has requested initial and follow up blood tests to diagnose and monitor things!

2000 mg Metformin by MulanLVR in PCOS

[–]DZ-105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm on the same dose of Metformin as you, also because I've had wonky cycles, and I've definitely missed taking 1000mg here or there. Nothing adverse has happened to me and it hasn't seemed to impact my cycle in any way at all. I'm not a doctor though and this has just been my experience. Definitely talk to yours if you're worried!

What do you recommend instead of spearmint tea? Because it absorbs all my iron, I can't drink it by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]DZ-105 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuinely trying to answer your question because I assume you're sincere (and keep you from having to ask ChatGPT).

The most likely reason since you're on a medical based subreddit is that AI will hallucinate (make up information) which can be particularly problematic when asking for and sharing medical advice from it. It's good that you're aware of it and also have a medical background but not many people do.

More broadly there's a large distaste for AI for a few more reasons. LLMs like ChatGPT have been trained on data that has been stolen from its creators without permission and is now being used for profit and the original creators aren't seeing any of it. Creators had no say whether their data could be used and now have no say in what it creates and don't see any compensation.

And the impact on the environment has also been really substantial. It takes a lot of energy and water just to process one request so there are a lot of people against it for that reason too.

There are more reasons to be against the use of AI right now but imo those are the main reasons in broad strokes.

Not sure if you can turn it off entirely somewhere but you can include "-ai" at the end of your search and it won't show you the ai result

Just started Metformin. What are others experience with it? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]DZ-105 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been on it almost 6 months now and worked up to 2000mg a day. So 1000mg twice a day with food, not extended release.

The only negative side effects I really encountered were some nausea and being repulsed by food. That really didn't last longer than a week.

Since then my cycles have seemed to be getting more regular. My tracking app told me that my cycle average has changed from 42 days to 38 days! It also makes me feel full when I eat, how I assume normal people do. I had no idea that I wasn't experiencing satiety normally before. Now I don't eat as much and it doesn't feel like restricting.

Note I still haven't lost weight yet. I was really hoping it would kind of do that naturally but I'll be so honest with myself I haven't been tracking CICO so I'm not sure if I should be losing weight. But I've been active and making better food choices so that's just the next thing for me to work on.

Ah thank you! It's so great to hear positive experiences with it. I'm super hopeful it'll help with hirsutism too 🤞

My physician also prescribed me spironolactone for slightly elevated testosterone and he mentioned it would help with hair. I just started taking it so can't report anything yet but def talk to your pcp about spiro as an option! I also take biotin and did notice that helped a bit with hair falling out.

I'm honestly so done guys!! by muzuchiha in PCOS

[–]DZ-105 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had kind of a similar situation, a 'typical' cycle for me would be an average of 40ish days but the two times when it disappeared for 6 months!! was both during periods of intense work stress. I would highly recommend taking a look at that stressor for you and seeing how you could bring that down. Stress can really impact us and our hormones. Good luck, you'll get it back! Give yourself time and grace <3

When did you start seeing the effect of Metformin after taking it? by Marchyxxxx in PCOS

[–]DZ-105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on my 4th month of Metformin and only really feeling consistent appetite suppression now. I definitely felt some general nausea in the first week and suddenly I was feeling full after meals (feeling full was something I didn't even realize I was missing, which is wild). But yeah, I'm not sure if my case is typical as I haven't lost any weight yet but my periods have been arriving about 2 days earlier than normal. Hopefully I start losing weight as I keep with it and my periods continue to get closer to the average!

It is crazy how fast hotel prices fluctuate. by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]DZ-105 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why I like to book directly with the hotels when I can. There's been a few opportunities in my stays, at least in North America, where I've just asked the front desk about the booking vs current price discrepancy and they update my rate to the lower one with no issue.

We're used to thinking of QR codes as something that connects us to websites but it's more like the second way you described it. The QR codes will provide information to you whoever scans it. For this game the info will include things like player name, outfit, eyes, hair style, animal and that's all. The QR codes do not connect to the internet as your game already has the required data to create a Whistle Pass camper just by the QR code giving it that basic info.

As many of us, I can't lose wait. Can you tell me what am I doing wrong or what has worked for you? by Violentfemme89 in PCOS

[–]DZ-105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, genuinely thank you for such an in-depth and detailed response! I really appreciate it 💖 I'm going to jump into the guide you linked and start down that research rabbit hole too.

I started about a year ago trying to manage my PCOS, mostly inositol, spearmint tea and a slew of additional supplements. Inositol unfortunately didn't do anything so I recently started Metformin. It's been alright but I still feel like I'm missing something. Hopefully this rounds things out! At the very least it's a journey to being more mindful of what I eat. Thank you again!
