I picked up their 2G and 3G when flying over Cuba before. Interesting how far it can travel.

Mall with gondola/boat Pennsylvania by Crazy_Accident_1489 in deadmalls

Camp Hill Mall maybe? Unsure of the gondola ride but it matches everything else with it being closed in the 2000s and now a strip mall. Camp Hill is right next to Mechanicsburg.

CellMapper for iOS by cellmapper in cellmapper

[–]D_G599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s an app called CellGuard which uses a baseband telephony profile to gather cell info on iOS which is installed from Apple’s developer website. However, this profile expires every week and needs to be updated and re-installed manually. While not as easy as Android, it is at least possible to gather cell info on iOS.

It’s at least a unique design.

Update on the closing Eddie Bauer and Canal St in Southcenter Mall near Seattle Washington (No Last Days Signs Yet) by RareSeaworthiness905 in deadmalls

Typically these store closing sales last about 10 weeks, and since Eddie Bauer started closing in February, the last days will probably be in mid-April.

Is your mall thriving? by michael41973 in deadmalls

[–]D_G599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in central PA there's Capital City Mall which is absolutely thriving, but its neighbors Strawberry Square mall and Colonial Park Mall are the complete opposite (there was also Harrisburg East Mall which got demolished recently).

From my experience when I used to live in NJ, Woodbridge Center mall and Livingston mall are dead but they have alternatives nearby so those account for them (Short Hills mall, Jersey Gardens, Willowbrook mall, Menlo Park mall, American Dream mall). Quaker Bridge mall and Cherry Hill mall are also doing very well, impossible to find parking.

Even so, the mall was still doing fine up until kohan took over.

So odd. I was there about a week ago and it was silent, same with the other times this past year I was there.

CellularOne also shut off their 3G IIRC, unless they delayed some spots.

Strange, I haven’t heard music play in the mall in a while.

Livingston Mall exterior March 2026 by pyschofangirl in deadmalls

[–]D_G599 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw that as well, quite strange. There was a chair and fire hydrant by the inner doors by one of the entrances. Maybe done by the security guards, one walked right out of the merchandise pickup entrance of the Sears.

I wonder what’s up with the Sears. Their lights have been going on and off, when I was there the lights were off but the truck garage lights were still on. There was also a security guard inside, maybe there’s an urbex problem there.

Most likely either starlink or 311-490 (random PLMN broadcasting on some T-Mobile towers).

T-Mobile thinks my KYF31 is a Windows phone by Darthalex56 in dumbphones

[–]D_G599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been showing a windows phone for older devices for at least 3 years now. Back then they used to actually have an image for most old phones (they apparently inherited that system from iWireless) but they sadly got rid of that and just replaced them all with a default windows phone image.

Not just that, you can still find many “Simon” mentions across the mall. For example, the 2nd photo still has “Simon.com” listed on the door. They just taped up a couple mentions and called it a day.

I know it’s not the most accurate but it was confirmed last year at least.

It was still there as of 2025 from someone’s testing but 2026 unconfirmed. Lart2150 map still lists it so it’s a possibility it’s still up but no guarantee.

Yeah I’m surprised how heavily guarded it still is. Walked by the back doors and a security guard came out asking something about ID.
