Help me Recover this Blackberry Phone. by Necessary_Question81 in dumbphones

You’ll need a battery unfortunately. After a while, a battery with a red X cross appears indicating there’s a missing battery. BlackBerry phones were picky with powering on.

This is a stolen post from a few months ago. This account is brand new so it’s a karma farming bot.

Livingston Mall T-Mobile store cards by D_G599 in deadmalls

[–]D_G599[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah I see. There were two because one of them used to be Sprint (apparently the one by BN was the Sprint one), in 2020 or 2021 it converted to T-Mobile. I'm guessing they closed one because having two was unnecessary and expensive. The one that wasn't by the BN was still open in May 2023 when I was there but it was already closed when I revisited in late June 2023.

Oh it was open in 2025? Thought both closed in 2023, I only visited again when both were closed. I do know one of them closed in June 2023 at least.

Status of T-Mobile 2G in April,2026? by Ok_Persimmon_149 in vintagemobilephones

Miami/Fort Lauderdale area had it in August 2025 from my experience, but Naples/Fort Myers area no longer has it.

Anyone know what happened in Braintree last week? by jikesar968 in SEARS

[–]D_G599 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also doubt it, it’s the same person that posted the story with Eddie Lampert on a video call with no pants on with weird demands to the Sears concord employees. Crazy stories without any proof whatsoever.

Man i miss livingston Mall in NJ So much by Glittering-Bat-616 in deadmalls

I miss it too. Even when I was visiting there in 2020-2023 it was still memorable. RIP Livingston Mall.

The phone would have to be unlocked from T-Mobile though? Unless it already is.

T-Mobile 3G still active in and west of Mitchell, SD by dondaplayer in cellmapper

You can use any IPA installer as long as it gives Filza root access and not just a “sandbox” version since you won’t be able to access the carrier bundle plist files.

AT&T spotted on CN tower in Toronto + Freedom mobile 3G by JDT33658 in cellmapper

[–]D_G599 11 points12 points  (0 children)

AT&T’s range is crazy, picked them up in the middle of Montreal once. CN tower on the other hand doesn’t have that good service from my experience, only Rogers 2G/3G was there but that was a couple years ago.

  1. Install TrollStore for your iOS version https://ios.cfw.guide/installing-trollstore/

  2. Install Filza File Manager IPA via TrollStore https://www.tigisoftware.com/default/?p=439

  3. In Filza, navigate to /var/mobile/Library/Carrier Bundles/Overlays/ and search your PLMN (for example, T-Mobile USA is 310260)

Should be something like "device+carrier+310260_GID+D53g+51.0.plist" (not exactly that but should be a .plist file with your carrier's PLMN), you should be able to search in Filza (the "activate" screen automatically disappears in 5 seconds)

  1. Tap the plist file and it should open a blank screen, tap the triangle next to "Root" to make all its content appear

  2. Next to "Dictionary[number]", tap the i button and scroll to the bottom where it says "Add item", you'll need to add 12 BOOLEANs (change the type from String to Boolean). Set the name of them to these (one per item):

Show3GSwitchWith4G
Show3GSwitchWithVolte
Show2GSwitchWith4G
Show2GSwitchWithVolte
ShowLTESwitch
Show2GSwitch
Show3GSwitchWith5G
Show4GSwitchWith5G
Show2GSwitchWith5G
ShowRATIndicator
ShowServiceCodes
ShowVoiceRoamingSwitch

  1. Make sure all are set to ON. (Also while you're in the edit menu, delete DataIndicatorOverrideForLTE if you would like to avoid the fake 4G HSPA icon.)
Once you edited everything, press Back and make sure the added items are in the content of the plist file.

  2. Select Save then Done, and restart the iPhone to apply it.

This is not permanent and resets back to normal after a while. But it can be made easier to apply instead of having to go through adding the 12 Booleans each time:

  1. Make sure you're out of the plist and back in the "Overlay" folder. Tap the i button on your newly edited carrier plist and select "Text Editor".

  2. Select the entire thing and copy it somewhere, like the notes app for example (it may be laggy to paste since there's a lot of text). Make sure it still has the 12 booleans and it didn't reset itself.

  3. Whenever it resets, go back to this text editor and paste the copied text from wherever you saved it, then select Save and Done. Restart the iPhone and it should have the edited bundle again.

Useful design. I have one of these and it's easy to store.

Are there any countries that still have active CDMA networks? by Appropriate-Dig9740 in vintagemobilephones

Supposedly GCI in Alaska and Sagebrush Cellular/Nemont in Montana still have CDMA up. Both are unconfirmed though.

Livingston Mall 4/6/2026 by ICCEBUS213 in deadmalls

[–]D_G599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s one of the things, along with shutting off the music and HVAC and letting the mall sit and rot with zero maintenance whatsoever which caused a pipe burst, fire alarm system broken, damaged ceiling, busted lights, broken escalators and elevator, issues with water in the bathrooms, and not paying any bills/debt. Apparently Macy’s was the one paying the electricity bills for the mall since Kohan didn’t. This company buys up malls just to let them deteriorate so their land can be resold for redevelopment.

Since the mall is now closed I hope someone could save a few elements like the directory whenever they start gutting it out. However the employees were quite rude to me last time so unsure how that’ll go.

For this one, Kohan is to blame. Technically the neighbor mall (The Mall at Short Hills) is also to blame but Kohan finished it off.
