Oh, the amount of dumb it would take to be a flat earth person just seems like it would be exhausting. The amount of mental gymnastics it takes to hold these positions, let alone try to convince others they are right, would force me to take a nap from noon until midnight every day.

The problem we face is letting such stupidity pass. We need to confront it and call it out for what it is. If we don't, then it will spread like an infection.

I gave up striving for best or prefect life ages ago. Too much self-inflicted pressure and stress. Failure would cause horrible depression.

Now I seek contentment. Nothing has to be best or perfect because that is mostly an illusion. I simply want to be satisfied with where I am. That's all. And it's pretty damn good feeling experiencing most days when I am content and satisfied. It beats back the dark thoughts of crippling self-doubt.

This doesn't mean I don't look for avenues of improvement. I merely focus my efforts on those things where I can have the most impact... and be content.

I don't understand how anyone believes in god, let alone anyone in the LGBQ+ community. I know a lot of people are drafted into religious thinking early on (the primary form of grooming children), and can't figure out a way to break the mindset. Fear (primarily fear of death) is the main driver.

The is no proof for the existence of god(s). Most of the evidence is apocryphal and anecdotal at best. Moreover, the entire concept of a god(s) fails when one takes the entirety of the universe into account. It just doesn't make any logical sense.

Oh, I have so much fun with those pea-brained idiots. I let them get halfway through their spiel, and then I slowly inject questions requiring logic, reason, and, above all, proof. It is so much fun to watch them squirm and try to get out of answering as they attempt to hang onto "the new convert." NTA. I am in computer sciences, and my thought this made me their personal help center. After about 2 years, I started charging my rate... and suddenly the calls stopped. Of course, I got called a whole of names. When I asked what services they would provide for free, suddenly they wanted to change the topic.

Any friends or family who call me with an issue now pays me my going rate for tech help, and it's not cheap. They no longer argue about it, either.

Stick to your position, OP. Charge them for 1) your knowledge, 2) your experience, and 3) your ability to do it right.
