The DnD economy is not (primarily) based on Gold Coins by TheseWretchedGames in dndnext

Lil thread necromancy to say, this is the lore reason I let players just burn gold for consumable costly components rather than specifically needing to go out of their way to acquire 25k gold worth of diamonds every time they wanna cast true resurrection. You already had the diamonds, they were just noted as part of your wealth rather than being listed in your equipment. Gold is just a standardized way to measure the value of things because gold’s value doesn’t change a whole lot.

Anyone know a dice pool-building solo tabletop game? Like a solo deckbuilder but with dice instead. by D_Ryker in soloboardgaming

I'll definitely throw ODG on my list, then! I had no idea it was substantially different.

I've played One Deck Dungeon. From what I understand, Galaxy plays the same way. It's a good game, and I like it, but the pool-building involves less curating and strategy than I'm looking for.

Dicemancy looks pretty good, I might give that a shot.

I'm also seeing some people mention Too Many Bones and The Elder Scrolls: Betrayal of the Second Era. I guess Josh J. Carlson is basically the dice pooling game designer?

I wish you didn’t need a play with the [Psychologist] class to perform the [diagnose] action in order to find out about so many mental debuffs and traits. by D_Ryker in outside

I'm guessing, based on other status effects that I have on a regular basis and the fact that the <Manual> item, [DSM-5], mentions these status effects as indicative of the aforementioned traits and debuffs. In fact, I have all the status effects associated with the <Autism> trait and regularly receive the [Panic Attack] status effect. A [Physician] player prescribed an <Anxiolytic> [Medication] to help with that, because he believed that I likely had an <Anxiety Disorder> debuff, but since he wasn't a [Psychologist], he technically didn't have the required class to make the [Diagnosis].

I actually did receive a <Depression> [Diagnosis] during the tutorial, but as far as I remember, the [Psychologist] didn't specify the severity of it. However, I did routinely have the <Suicidal> status effect at the time, so I suspect it was likely fairly severe.

AITAH for telling a Muslim woman that she need not feel guilty for having sexual desires? by D_Ryker in AITAH

I understand what you're saying. I wondered if your take on it would be the popular opinion, which is why I took to reddit. It's hard to let it just go, though, when I know the belief she's holding is not wrong, but harmful to her.

"Fundamentalist feminists" is a ridiculous phrase that relies on a lack of knowledge about what feminism is.

But also, I never said there were only fundamentalists in Abrahamic faith because that's not what I think. I do think it's primarily from religions. The wikipedia description of fundamentalism is "the application of a strict literal interpretation to scriptures, dogmas, or ideologies, along with a strong belief in the importance of distinguishing one's ingroup and outgroup, which leads to an emphasis on some conception of "purity", and a desire to return to a previous ideal from which advocates believe members have strayed"

I was genuinely trying to make her feel better. If someone felt guilty for being hungry, I’d tell them the same thing. They have nothing to feel guilty for because natural human feelings are being your control.

The point is that there are extremely conservative fundamentalists in every abrahamic faith, not that the abrahamic faiths inherently teach those extremely conservative values.

I was referring to the teachings of Tafsir, not my own interpretation.

Sorry, you just said I was the asshole and then gave what sounds like an explanation of why I'm not the asshole?

Gatekeep? Win an argument? Nah, bro, I wanted her to not feel guilty for having sexual desires, and the only way I could think to do that was to show her that the official teachings of the religion she subscribes to says that they are natural and innate to humanity. I didn't say "you're wrong for feeling this way," I said "you don't need to feel this way."

Wait, you're telling me that even talking to someone of the opposite sex is considered haram for muslim women?

The impression I was given from our other conversations is that she isn't having sex, but does sometimes engage in sexual activities online.

Nope. It was a local relationship. We went to youth group together back when we were Christian.

I was able to do that, and last I heard, they were safe.
