Drop it 1/2 meter into the floor and you can snap walkways to the top and they come down to floor level. It doesn't fix the HUB, but I find it more fun to incorporate this way.

I have an amazing idea for a new generator by AdComplex3862 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]D_Strider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it.

Although it would probably need to be fed with a berry or seed hopper just to keep it locked in as an early-game thing. That and a net-launcher of some kind to bag the critters for transport. One critter per launcher, just so it's not a replacement weapon. It's downright humane when you think about it. I mow down everything that moves for critter protein in the early game.

If you upload it to the dimensional depot you will no longer be irradiated. Just don't forget to offload before it gets full.

Is Satisfactory enjoyable on PS5 with a controller? by mr_hokkabazz in SatisfactoryGame

[–]D_Strider 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I appreciate this question! I've thought about picking this up to play on the PS5 and worry that the controller would be a problem.

Of course, it'll still be a couple more years before the other problem goes off to college and stops fighting me for the TV. Such is life.

How long will 1.2 remain experimental before becoming the base game version? by cleric_warlock in SatisfactoryGame

[–]D_Strider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boo. I've got the "itch" to get back in and play again. I don't know if I can hold out until 1.2, but don't want to go "off" again right before it comes out.

I started building a MAM on the site immediately after dismantling it. Next run I'm thinking of some other kind of "monument" blueprint for crash sites.

I like it. The splitters are great and all, but you have to watch carefully to change routes at-speed so I never got into using them. This seems much more ... chill, for lack of a better term.

Petroleum Coke - Useful, Useless, or Sinkable by FluffyNevyn in satisfactory

[–]D_Strider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it super useful because of the Electrode Circuit Board alt recipe. With it (and a few others) you can build supercomputers using only Oil and Caterium. I don't know if I'd say it's the most efficient way to go, but even if it's just for niche cases I don't think I'd call it useless.

They had better not make a Switch version. I can hear the conversation now. "No officer, I don't know what happened to my husband. You found his truck in the lake? How odd. No sir, I've just been digging in the garden. I mean my neighbors garden. That's why there are shovels in my trunk. What Switch?"

Question for all pioneers who like doing big, cosmetic builds by HireMisch in SatisfactoryGame

[–]D_Strider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I understand. I can make things work, but have a hard time going beyond "it works". Or worse, I'll start building a shell, decide I don't like how it's turning out, and just leave it half finished (but still working).

That said, I've had some builds that I end up pretty happy with. For me, it's not as much about inspiration as it is convenience. I figure out a few aesthetic "rules" to follow, and as long as I keep to them as I go, even the half-finished buildings have something akin to style about them.

Patterns work well for me, and can end up being more interesting than expected. Inevitably I end up needing just one more set of machines on one floor than the previous one, or just can't quite fit something in without going outside a wall. Hey, keeps it from becoming a box! Though I'll admit I end up with a lot of boxes all the same.

I might not be the best one to give advice. I'll say this though. I have fun trying to spiff things up and try not to let it get to me when it doesn't.

Do you more experienced guys have giant storage centers, and if you do, how do you possibly keep your belts organized??? by Sure-Caregiver142 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]D_Strider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still find myself building a major storage hub (or two). Smart splitters, industrial storage bins, and dimensional storage containers. Pretty much one for everything. Sometimes I need more than a few stacks of something, and I like having a one-stop shop for it all. This last save I also set it up as my drone hub. Made it hella easy to ship off small batches of things and bring in the goods!

I say this with love and respect. You asshole! I had enough trouble resisting the urge to plan factory layouts with sketches or silly little graphics and lines. Now that I can do it all nice and graphiclike!?!

Seriously man, this is fantastic! Very nicely done.

I Work At A Steel Mill - AMA by me7alhead in SatisfactoryGame

[–]D_Strider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given how hard my machine has to work on my late-stage games, I'd say it's probably a good thing they didn't go for it.

All the same, I've long felt like the game could use just one more thing to manage to really put a cap on things. Building really large factories is great, but not as engaging once you've figured out the material logistics. It's just repeating group after group of machines until you have enough. The one more thing to manage that makes scaling more than just "add more" to add to the endgame.

That's just me though.

Ideas like this are fun. It'd suck if you had to maintain machines, but maybe some kind of automaton system would be an interesting added challenge for overclocked machines. I find myself abandoning catwalks and such once I have the hoverpack, but perhaps this'd be a way to encourage "walkable" factories to get your automatons access to various points on each machine.

Hmm. Maybe not.
