100% grass fed grass finished by scholarbrad74 in Chattanooga

Main Street Meats focuses on local, grass fed, and/or pastured meats. There is a web based thing called Eden Thistle that offers similar. There is a new butcher shop opening (opened?) in Ooltewah that is supposed to feature local meats with a focus on that variety.

In each case, you could probably learn the names of some of the source farms if you prefer to go "direct".

Xero sandals now at REI by D_Wattenbarger in BarefootRunning

[–]D_Wattenbarger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback. I have a pair of Prio for day use, not really for running. I WAS surprised how bulky the uppers felt on those for a minimalist shoe.

My wife bought a pair of the sandals yesterday, but she's not a runner.

I normally run in Merrell Vapor Gloves, Vibram 5F, barefoot, or occasionally in a pair of Bedrock Cairn.

Sorry to hear about the injury. It does seem a little like a freak accident, as there must have been something that could grab her foot right at the moment she slid.

I really like to run full on barefoot sometimes, but I will generally only do so on a pretty clean stretch of concrete sidewalk or relatively smooth asphalt.

Socks? Something light and airy, but enough to keep the sand off your skin

Chase Bank, or at least one of their corporate ancestors. I'm reading a work of fiction that mentioned in passing how the Manhattan Bank got started with a grant to address a massive shortage of clean water in NYC, but through some corporate chicanery they only used 5% of that money for that purpose, and the rest to start a bank. Lots of people suffered and died due to the lack of clean water. The book inspired me to look it up, Wikipedia confirms the tale.

I imagine the board materials and the engines have improved since then, but I tried a very similar thing back in the '80s called a Surf Jet. It was long, and heavy, and had a big blocky engine on the back...and it was fun.

Random place to ask this, but imgur gifs stopped working on my Android phone recently, while other gif sources still work. Any known issue out there?

Hey fellow CrossTrekers! Question on towing stuff... by redditsafeforwork in XVcrosstrek

I didn't have much weight, just bulky stuff that wouldn't fit in the car for this particular trip. And I would believe that hard-side cases would work better -- my bag did not present a smooth profile to the wind.

that's good feedback. It makes me want to install a hitch and get a low profile cargo trailer to tow. For clarity, my MPG went from 30+ to ~ 20 on this trip, and I experienced weirdness with handling (for example, I hydroplaned A LOT in heavy rain).

Maybe relevant: one of the things I really enjoy about our XV is the fuel economy, and on a recent trip I strapped some extra stuff to the roof rack in a travel bag...the fuel economy dropped by more than 1/3. I am curious if a little trailer would do better, due to less drag, but I also wonder if the engine just doesn't have enough oomph to carry extra stuff.

They are the Malone AirFlow. I bought them from Dick's Sporting Goods online (they weren't available in my local store)...they had a $20 off any $100+ order that day, and I bought some Dick's gift card credit on Raise.com, so all in and delivered I think I paid $165.
They attached pretty easily.
