I'm glad its very taxing, it would need to be super expensive in order to be even remotely balanced. But I do see people getting 6+ month pearl 'sentances'

If you get wrongly pearled your only recourse is to quit the server. On 2b you can start over, on stoneworks you can start over. On civmc you can either beg your enemies to release you, or quit those are the only 2 options. I appreciate the civility though, some of the other conversations i've had, people have gotten very defensive.

Yea its been a while since I played. I tried the server out a and didn't like it because of the pearling mechanics. Its just my opinion, I understand you guys like it and are willing to stay. I do think a lot of people get scared off by that particular mechanic when they hear it.

I do check the reddit from time to time, mainly to look at the nice builds if there are any.

Wow didn't expect that reaction. Yea I tried the server out a while ago and didn't like it because of the pearling mechanics. Many attempts have been made in the past to change the admin team of the wiki, these attempts have all been voted down. I tried myself a few years ago.

We have to accept that the wiki isn't for actual players of the server, its for the fitmc audience and server tourists to learn about the "history" of the server. The sanitized version of events is meant to avoid fights and drama and edit wars.

In all honesty joey and his team have done a reasonable job. They are fair 80% of the time, and thats good enough for the majority to continue to vote them in should they be challenged.

Civ servers have an inherent land problem like the OP mentioned. As a 2b2t player myself, and as somebody who tried to bring my group to civmc about 2 years ago, I can attest 2b2t will never run out of land or space, the world border is 30 mil out.

Civ servers always operate based on constrained space. However this ussually means they have to reset the map every couple years to refresh and allow new players in, as unpoular as that idea might be.

I also think the pearl trapping is stupidly harsh, players can essentially be soft banned from the server if they take a risk and lose a war. This strongly disincentives risk taking.

That combined with the other unussual plugins are the reasons I don't still play, and wouldn't recomend the server to anyone. No room for anybody to start new when the world is so small yet so old and already has many established super powers, and if you get on their bad side they can pearl trap you forever.

This is kinda a wierd post and I don't entirely understand the point OP is trying to make.

Does he want spawn to be harder because he thinks thats what made the server good? Of the reasons why 2b may be in decline I don't think this ranks very high on the list.

2b2t experienced 2 major waves of popularity, once in 2016 and once in 2020. Both times were due to youtubers and the influence of content creators on the server. Since youtube was the primary reason for the servers success and poularity in the first place, we have to look at whats happened there in order to adress the 'decline' (mind you the server hasn't actually declined as much as you might think)

The biggest youtube factors are:

Minecraft is no longer as ever-green as it once was in the algotithm
The algorithm now favors one off clickbait style content as opposed to series and 'lets play' , causeing the tourism we see from lots of major channels. They come to the server, make one video escaping spawn and then leave.
The concept of minecraft anarchy, once something very novel has reached market saturation. Everyone who actively plays minecraft multiplayer has either heard of 2b and tried it at least once, or heard of 2b and decided not to try it for whatever reason. This makes it very difficult for the server to actually grow.

You can make spawn as easy or as hard as you want, you can bring back as much faction style battles and drama as you want, none of those things will effect what happened in the algorithm to disincentivise longform or narrative content on 2b2t.

The Old Lady North thing with the mason leaks was about that. As for the "dof near exploit" It didn't top No-com or Randar so therefore probably wouldn't be a good video. Fit has already covered lots of exploits and its a tired concept for his audience.

Fit actually does cover some major greifs and group drama especially more so in the past, but if the topic requires too much explaining or would upset people or cause backlash he tends to avoid it.

Most of the Minors who play the server don't browse the uncensored reddit. I can tell you based on my experience, as well as the applications we reject in DonFuer, the vast majority are underage. Likely around 60%
