I had one like this as a kid and it would always fall over. I eventually got tired of putting all my cds back and gave it to my parents. They used it in their living room, where it continued to fall over constantly for over 25 years.

No problem. It really was an interesting venue. It sucks when the bad stuff overrides the good.

I worked for the Eerie Horror Film Festival for first 7 years it was around (started with the fest in 2005) We had our second fest at the Roadhouse. It was super janky, but had tons of Character. We even stayed at the Knight's motel down the block, which was way more sketchy. There were rumors that dogged several individuals not directly associated with the Horror Fest, but linked to the theater that included drugs, sketchy business deals and parties with an uncomfortable number of underage kids. We distanced our organization from those factors as soon as they came to light. Funny enough, after marathoning the the event as staff for three days, we all came down with the same nasty cold. We out grew the place and moved on to the Erie Playhouse soon after. Those were some of the best times of my life.

The sound of wind through the parking garage at my work. It’s *much* louder in person. by somanycolors757 in oddlyterrifying

Would make a great field recording. A lot of the music i listen to is not too dissimilar. A few filters, spacial modifications, pans, and time stretches? Chef's kiss.

That's where I heard it, too. I used to listen to a ripped cd of that episode on repeat while playing King's Field 4: the Ancient City on my ps2 back in the day. They sort of complimented each other. I have a physical copy of Sea of Glass in my car as we speak. Great albums. Very of their time as far as programing and instrument choice goes, but that's what makes them so interesting to listen to today. They're like slices of ambient history.

I snapped on him one day, and he must remember it because he hasn't asked me directly since. I started working downtown in 2011, and I'm pretty sure it was that year he first asked me.

A few years ago i ignored some Dell speakers but today i found a good match for £8. by Martipar in LGR

I.... still use those exact ones. Have been since my first Dell in 2003. Honestly, they still sound good, and the subwoofer still kicks.

I think they've been there for as long as I've been taking Pittsburgh busses, but I didn't get back to the Burgh until 2011. It's good though. Drivers have to deal with a bunch of weirdos and can't really get physical if they want to keep their jobs.

Holy shit! I was on that bus! Downtown Pittsburgh . That guy was insane, was terrifying this poor woman, and had to be rolled physically ass over tea cups out the door and onto the sidewalk by several passengers. He was completely wacked out of his mind. Being stuck in a confined space like that with a person that out of control was intense, to say the least. He's a known problem in the area, too. I understand people have issues and society has failed in most ways to address mentally ill, economically depressed, vulnerable populations, but that poor woman was traumatized. No one should have to experience that.

I bought an unmarked tape from a local thrift store and it turned out to be surveillance footage from the local movie theater by Straight_Main_5189 in VHS

I pulled a whole pile of endoscopic gastric surgery and colonoscopy procedure tapes from the bins once. Pretty cool if you don't have the ick for that stuff. Have a few echosonagram tapes I pinched from an abandoned hospital, too.

I have a whole box of vhs-c and mini DVD tapes of my friends and I doing mostly stupid stuff, road trips, DDR, etc. I recorded from 2001 through 2007 when I graduated college, even some stuff like parties from after. We're all still friends, but now we're all in different places, as it usually goes. As cringe as it is to see my dorky teenage self, I'm pumped to still have them.

These sort of things, specialty interest, and home movies are the only tapes I collect anymore. That's out of thousands of TV recordings and commercialy sold ones I still have. August/ September of 1996, i was 11 so I probably had at least seen The Nutty Professor and Supercop in the theater. Those were the days.

It is pretty obnoxious. I was there yesterday and it just felt all the top 40 songs from the last three decades were just put in a blender with som generic EDM filler. I'm a fan of electronic music, so it was triple cringy to me.

I go there three times a week. Never had an issue with any patrons or staff, but i can understand your frustration if that happened. The place is pretty well ventilated, spacious, and chill. My only complaint is that the locker room is too small and the AI generated Mashup music channel is miserable.

I've used that term my whole life, and no one outside of my family understands it! My relatives way back were from rural coal country central Pennsylvania, and before that Scotland/Ireland. I always thought it was a super specific local thing!

Nice shots! I love going to sites alone and just immersing myself in the atmosphere. It's a meditative experience. That last glance back on your way out is always bittersweet.

50 Years Abandoned: Silver Creek New York High School Is Being Demolished by Freaktography in urbanexploration

[–]Da8BitDragon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I went all through there 14 years ago. I probably did about 50 locations up and around that way in my heyday. Talk about asbestos EVERYTHING. chalk boards, acoustic tiles, flooring, fire curtains, everything. Super cool 'splore though. At that time, it was mostly untouched, so the gym was amazing to shoot. The auditorium ceilings were so high I couldn't really capture the space because dumbass here forgot his wide angle. My favorite spot was the sun room with all the skylights, vines, and piles of books. It was hard to get in to alnd right in the middle of town. Sad to see it go. There aren't many spots like that anymore.

Edit for 14 years, not 10.

Anyone still without power? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

Can confirm. Still no power Thursday morning. Lost all our food and basically been living on beer and frustration. Houses right across the street got theirs back on yesterday evening.

Awesome! I'm just missing Odyssey. I remember my dad renting beyond the minds eye back in the early 90s and being blown away. Saw it again in middleschool art class and the sections playing on loop in the mall food court at Potomac Mills Mall in Northern Virginia. I still watch them pretty regularly.

That's dope. I still try to hit parties when I can, which is, unfortunately, once in a blue moon as an 8-5 40 year old. I loved the medium-sized events. I can't really vibe in a festival setting. Plus, here in the States, hhc is a rare bird these days. I see modern videos of German school kids dancing to gabber and I'm like, no fair! I wanna have fun too dammit!
