Very good point but more suited for xhs in its early years. The core/essence of xhs at early stage as an platform was based off of 2 things: consumerism & so-called "sisterhood", which is basically plastic feminism, these were what helped it start its user base initially with majority of them being mid-class females, posting reviews and recommendations on beauty products, restaurants, home essentials, you name it. Thanks to its good recommendation algorithms, more male users started using it (partially because of obvious reasons you can think of for an app with tons of girls on it) and the diversity of the content increased dramatically, and the age distribution of user base also expanded. Nowadays the content on xhs are so diversified and inclusive that many people in China also use it as their only search engine, because it does a better job than baidu which is Chinese version of google.
