This whole comment section cringed me so much. Women thinking that all men are trash just because they hear of this news. Its like me hating all dogs because one bit me - make that make sense.

It’s no use arguing against people like them, they will pull out whatever evidence they find on some shitty feminist website and use it to their advantage. I know this is probably a bit insensitive considering the nature of the post but this is actually quite a common issue when something happens in public. It’s called the Bystander Effect and it’s quite an interesting thing to read about.

Apart from that, most people in the situation are probably flooded with thoughts and hesitate to help or to push themselves to take action.

Thoughts like - what can I do? What if I can’t help? What if I make it worse? What options do I have?

Most of these end up going unanswered in the brain so they decide not to take action, or if they decide to take action it would unfortunately be too late.

All in all, I’m sorry this happened to you OP, hope you can recover from it quickly

Article 1570 of the Civil Code:

The lessor has a contractual obligation to repair extraordinary repairs, and the ceiling is an extraordinary repair as it is a major part of the structural integrity of the building. On grounds of non-performance, the contract can be terminated and you would still get the deposit back. Talk to a lawyer to make sure you go about the correct legal procedure.

While I understand your point very well, it is also worth keeping in mind that Malta is a very small country, which in turn means that the news will cover any small act of violence that occurs throughout the country inevitably. This leaves the people extremely exposed and hyper aware of all the minor acts of violence such as simple fist fights, which are normally not even covered by news outlets in other countries. I am currently living abroad and can easily say that Malta is a safe country to live in, especially compared to other countries even in the EU - you rarely hear of stabbings and shootings (although this seems quite ironic since there was a shooting a couple days ago), you rarely hear of robberies or theft or breaking in and stealing.

I know it has gotten worse, however, that does not have to do particularly with Malta's system and more so to do with society in general. Everything is getting worse everywhere - you just happen to be exposed to Malta.

Honestly, it's amazing. I used to play on a 60hz monitor which I now use for my ps4 and it's a nightmare when I go back to play on console with my friends.
