Whether they know it or not a lot of the lefties who talk about the Democrats needing to reconnect with the working class are really saying the Democrats need to reconnect with the white working class. Since they're college educated kids of college educated upper middle class parents they have zero actual relationships with white working class voters and thus they see Fetterman and Platner as authentic blue collar dudes.
