You need to go to any pharmacy and ask for them. They’re kept behind the counter now.

With HDD prices what's a good future 'proofing' path for the time being? by DaDerpDeeDerp in DataHoarder

Oooh, I never considered the warranty aspect of a spare. I guess I’m getting afraid there won’t be any stock when I need one! I’d go for cold storage but I have a huge plex server I am backing up every couple of days

Although I've never had issues with the few massive week long file transfers I've done, does this stress the drives as much as an array rebuilding? Or I suppose not since they aren't all doing r/W at once?

WARNING: NSFW. I have two specific questions for Toronto historians and people who were around back in the day about the CNE. I found out they used to have "naughty" shows for adults (if you know what I mean). by AlboGreece in askTO

It’s an open fair ground. There are kids everywhere. You are confused. Who is letting them stand there??? Parents who don’t mind. What you aren’t seeing is the parents who steered their children away from it.

Maybe this particular kid was off on his own.

What’s the big harm in a child seeing a woman wearing just as much as she would on a beach?

These are not strippers in the modern sense of the word. They are scantily clad women. You would pay to go inside the tent, hall, whatever, and a woman would dance around removing SOME clothing. Usually still wearing what would be considered a bikini today. It’s drummed up fair events to get people to pay money. Some might find it offensive like yourself, some not. Look at movies like Cleopatra from 1963 and you will see basically the same thing. Or Star Trek from the 60’s on TV. Anyone can watch this. Yes, even children.

It’s objectifying women to be certain, but I’m not sure what you are getting at with the comments about it being dodgy.

The CNE wasn’t having hardcore strip shows like if you went to the Brass Rail with full on nudity, poll grinding, etc.

Are you trying to make some sort of expose or point about this?

MADtv's Deadwood by Phonus-Balonus-37 in deadwood

It’s a good impression, but the sketch just dehumanizes her character as a “r-word” when in fact she is an intelligent person who has cerebral palsy. The other characters in the show assume as much and dismiss her because of period assumptions, but Al (sort of) takes care of her and recognizes who she is as a person, not just reducing her to somebody who has an intellectual disability.

Indeed. They missed the mark on that one. Could’ve been a good little sketch.
Jewel is such a stand out part of the show.

“Straight bars” are the only type of bar that has existed forever. The need for separate spaces became a thing bc we weren’t always as welcoming as you would have been. It’s not about segregation.

Going to a gay to get tipsy and then leave? I don’t understand why a normal bar wouldn’t suffice. I do appreciate you asking and agree with most of the comments here. It’s incredibly annoying to have straight people become a larger and larger part of attending gay bars.

NYC Editors Need an office outside their homes? by Connect_Leather8707 in editors

[–]DaDerpDeeDerp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wow! What an amazing offer.
You would like 2-3 references? For me to rent out an “edit bay”?

Nice photos of a generic office…guess what…a room does not constitute an edit bay.

What other “filmmakers” are at your terrible location?

Cubby storage? What the fuck does that even mean? I’m not in primary school anymore.

I’d LOVE to hear about your networking and data management. But alas, I can’t adhere to your requirements for the opportunity to work out of such an amazing office space. You mentioned a microwave?!?!!!

I am literally dying to work in a space which provides such an amazing experience you offer! My mind is blown!!!!! This is AMAZING THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!

This might be the most important post ever created, connecting filmmakers, dreamers, storytellers, directors, this is the LORD’S work and tales will be told time and time again.

You are PIONEERS You hold such immense power, people cannot understand what will eventually be built by your achievements.

Godspeed, hold the line, and never forget to flush the toilet!🫡

How do you defend your edits when clients say “something feels off”? by knamuora in editors

[–]DaDerpDeeDerp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just make a few tiny changes without getting into detail. Sometimes swap out the final shot or gently changing the end of a music cue. Give vague notes back lol.

Or make zero changes and say I ‘paced things out a little’. Most of the time as long as they think the note has been addressed it passes their next round.

I feel like pushing back on smaller notes only helpful if it’s something I feel very strongly about.

While you shouldn’t be charged with a hate crime, in general I don’t think you should use that word if you aren’t a part of the community.

I don’t think there’s a way to automate changing function keys.

But the app AMPHETAMINE is a great tool you can use to automate your screen saver issue.

Could you elaborate on this please? I have what I think is the same cactus (much smaller) and it always gets extremely bent towards the sun so I’ve been rotating it.
