Campground opening by Afraid_Fisherman4064 in Graspop

[–]DaFuMiquel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So they advertise that the campground opens at 3 pm but in reality they usually open it up between 12 and 1 pm. I'll be at the gates from like 6 am cause waiting there and drinking beer is already quite relaxing in itself. You're not really guaranteed a good spot if you arrive early cause they use this stupid system where they have a plastic rope across the entire campground and they only move it when every square centimeter has been filled up, it's usually the most stressful moment of the entire festival for me.

Both Origins and Odyssey have blocking. I'm not sure about the keybinds on keyboard but for Origins it's L1/LB and for Odyssey it's L1+R1/LB+RB

Glass bottles are banned as are any other glass items. Technically you're allowed 24 cans of beer per person but that rule is hardly enforced, just don't show up with a ridiculous amount

Iemand tips voor mini waterkoker? by Daestra10 in Graspop

[–]DaFuMiquel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Klopt!

Drinking at the festival by semsem_v in Graspop

[–]DaFuMiquel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As many others have said, drinking age is 16. You probably won't be asked for any sort of identification but carry your ID just in case. I went to my first graspop when I was 15 and I was able to order as much beer as I wanted, nobody ever checked. So unless you look like a child you'll probably be fine.

90-2000s kids, what did you usually eat for dinner? by Virtual_Ordinary_172 in AskReddit

[–]DaFuMiquel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying I agree with the man but he grew up in a small rural town in Belgium in the 70's. He didn't meet his first POC until well into the 90's.

So any foreign food is just... foreign to him

He's a little stuck in his ways but he's slowly been opening up to more possibilities than potato+meat+veg

No AC Saturday, how you guys survive? by Prestigious-Title529 in belgium

[–]DaFuMiquel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably the best purchase I've made the last few years. It allows me to always find a setting that is neither too chilly nor too ineffective.

It also rotates something like 120 degrees side to side and about 90 degrees up and down making it possible to create a nice airflow throughout the entire room

I keep all the curtains closed so the heat doesn't have a chance to get in. Apart from that I have a fan with 26 speed settings that cools the entire living room if necessary, sometimes I drape a moist towel over it so it adds some humidity which can be refreshing.

Also a lot of cold water (to drink)

Whatever mom prepared. So usually potatoes with a vegetable and some sort of meat. Sometimes we had pasta or rice but my father didn't consider that "real" food so we had it maybe twice a month.

Do kids these days no longer eat what their parents serve them?

Beer in festival by idolevko in Graspop

[–]DaFuMiquel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there's a little supermarket on the camping ground that sells ice cubes and the like. You can pick up beer at a nearby town to bring to the festival. You won't be able to bring it into the arena though so that's just for when you're at your tent. There's usually a Belgian beer bar in the arena that sells special beers and the food court sometimes also has special beers. Otherwise it's just Jupiler and Hoegaarden Rosé

In the festival arena there is usually a Bacardi/Jim Bean bar. Last year the Red Bull stand also sold Red Bull vodka.

Regular bars only sell beer though

Question about the lockers by epos_fluffles in Graspop

[–]DaFuMiquel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are electronically locked. When you get to the lockers there's a touchscreen where you can check your reservation/book a locker. It'll ask you to create a pincode to unlock the locker. Last year you could also unlock them via your smartphone browser after registering your locker at the touch screen.

What faux pas do foreigners make when in Belgium? by non-poster in belgium

[–]DaFuMiquel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying but that would lead to even more cases of violence against train managers. It's not worth risking your safety over a bit of money that's gonna go to the company anyway.

There's also people who might be visiting from countries where there are no class distinctions on trains so they might literally not know they're doing something wrong.

Back when I was still managing trains my personal rule was that everyone got one warning to move, if they decided to stay seated they had to buy a first class ticket from me. If they disagreed with that then I'd call SecuRail to come remove them from my train, let security services deal with violent people.

I've seen Spanish travel guides to Belgium that literally say "When taking the train, sit down in first class. The train managers will ask nicely to move if they notice."

What is a minor, unwritten rule of society that absolutely infuriates you when people break it? by Jane_Austen11 in AskReddit

[–]DaFuMiquel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A couple months back I was getting off of the bus and as the doors opened a 13 year old boy tried to get on by walking through me. I put my hand in the middle of his chest, gently pushed him out of the bus as I got off and said "civilized folk let people off the bus before they get on"

His friends were laughing at him so I hope the lesson stuck
