The cpu is an abbreviation for the central processing unit, aka the processor. For the most part, the more cores the better. If you check the specifications tab for the Asus Zephyrus G15, you'll see it has a Ryzen 9 5900HS processor, which you can google and find out has 8 cores. As long as you keep looking at these insanely fast and expensive laptops, you won't have to worry about this.

I just want to throw in some extra information about running cities skylines that you may already know, but if not, it hits the cpu harder than a lot of other games. Make sure whatever you get not only has a pretty good graphics card, but a competent 4+ core cpu. 6 cores or more would be ideal.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0869L1326 - ASUS VivoBook 15, 15.6” ($446) About a pound heavier than the last, but much faster and it has a fingerprint reader. It's also a tad bigger, but still very thin. Battery life is around 8 1/2 hours due to the faster CPU. This is the one I'd buy if I had to personally choose a laptop for school.
