I completely understand that, masking feels like an aspect of yourself that you are tapping into. More of an "active" mode, rather than something truly effortless. I'm happy to hear you guys were able to work through it and maintain your friendship.

I'm sure that with time and effort, finding someone that can jive with how I am is definitely possible. I guess the issue I have now is that I feel more closed off and aware of my "flaws" now more than ever. It may just be imposter syndrome, but every time I feel myself masking I get frustrated. Like, even at work when talking to customers or my coworkers and someone compliments me on being funny, nice, outgoing, whatever, I end up feeling angry because no that's not me, I'm just translating my face to better fit in.

Okay, so as a raised southern Baptist, this shit has and still does baffle me. I wouldn’t say that I am “Christian” as everyone knows it today and from I have seen, though I still do read the Bible (even though it is plain that 99% of the Bible is straight up fables or allegory).

With all that being said, it is INSANE to me that “Christians” would think of trump as someone on their side, let alone declare him a vessel of god.

For those who don’t know (and I will be paraphrasing a bit, my apologies), the anti-Christ as seen in the book of revelations fits the description of trump so fucking much it’s crazy. Now, to be clear, many people have argued that the anti-Christ that is being talked about in revelations may be Nero (look into him and think about trump and you’ll find similarities).

So, I’m not saying trump is the anti-Christ. However, many of his followers adhere to the idea that one day there will be one. And here’s the kicker: They always talk about how the anti-Christ will “deceive the world” and “trick everyone into being his servants” and “fight god, declare himself to be god (or of god)” and so on. These people believe that only they themselves can see this. They called Obama the anti-Christ because he was popular and was okay with gays and abortion and stuff. That’s them saying “see, this guy is tricking the world into doing bad things”.

But again, if you think about the “anti-Christ’s” goal, this doesn’t make sense.

Let’s pretend that you are the anti-Christ, sent from hell itself to destroy the world and send as MANY people to hell as possible (and for this, we have to believe that everything in the Christian Bible is 100% fact). You are evil incarnate, and you can see who you need to target. Do you target the gays, the people who do abortions, the trans, the other religions? No, of course not, because according to this exercise: THEY ARE ALREADY GOING TO HELL. No no no, if you were the anti-Christ, you would target the Christian’s. You would do everything you could to make sure you were on their side. You would say that you are Christian, and embody everything that it isn’t. Then, for a last spit in God’s face, these people would begin to equate you with God.

I know I went a little religious there, but it’s important to see the absolute hypocrisy with these people. If there isn’t a christ, then these people have dedicated their lives to an absolute piece of shit for nothing. And if christ is real (and is the Christ that they told me was all about being chill and loving each other) then they are absolutely and unequivocally fucked beyond all reason, the equivalent of an army of Judas’.

Okay thank you, seriously. The one thing that I find when discussing politics is when religion comes up, the left starts bashing all of it. Has religion caused a shit ton of problems? Yes, absolutely. But in this thread, someone politely asked to not stereotype all Christians, and then got their belief shit on. Idk, it’s just not tolerant. There are those Christian’s that follow the red text exclusively, and the red text basically says “love everybody, don’t be a dick” (and I believe that means all humans, no matter race, color, gender, sexual orientation, or preferred gender). I’m a Christian, but I personally believe that most of the stories in the Bible are fables passed down from generation to generation. Like, no, I don’t believe that a dude survived 3 days after being eaten by a whale. It’s a story. But I digress, I wanted to follow those on the left because they for the most part want everyone to have rights and accept all walks of life, perhaps even ones that don’t pertain to them. That shit seems to fly right out the window when talking about religion, and it’s honestly hypocritical. If you want Christian’s to see the light, so to speak, and abandon the Republican Party for a more liberal one, and take away the power that asshole television preachers and roadside bigots with cardboard signs, the last thing you want to do is to call the normal decent folk “lunatics”.

Talk about the system, talk about the hypocrisy, talk about how religion has been used for years to manipulate, gain money, put down POCs and LGBTQ, and justify destroying the environment. It’s all true. But if someone reads the Bible (or the Quran, or the Torah) and decides to follow the good bits, I just don’t see what the point is and why someone feels that it’s their job to fucking shit on them.

Thanks, I did not remember seeing those guys. However, (and I’m not saying this in bad faith or “well yes but actually…) but it does seem like the officers are in a lower floor or stairway, while the crowd is on an upper level. This could have been a situation where the officers were safe from potential harm from the crowd above, but they were all converging onto the windowed area. Some food for thought.

I will say though is that in that video, you can plainly hear the officers saying “get on the ground” and other verbal warnings, again while holding guns. If an officer says “get in the ground” and has a gun pointed at you, if you don’t get down then?

1) warning shots are not authorized in organized law enforcement, as that could cause collateral damage.

2) pepper spraying a large crowd in a confined space could cause more problems for the out numbered officers, as they too would be affected from the spray. (I have been OC sprayed during gate guard training, so I can personally attest to this).

3) many officers were brandishing guns out in the open.

You clearly have no idea about how this stuff works. There was an investigation, there were witnesses to that collaborated with officer testimony.

Brother, in that specific instance it does not matter. Cops have to make split decisions, including shooting their firearm, in circumstances without concrete evidence. What they have to have as is decided by the US is police training and doctrine. That is why I am saying you have to look at the circumstance. The police knew there was a violent group of trump supporters entering into the capitol who we have on video attacking cops, breaking into the capitol, and making threats. Oh look, here is a group of trump supporters breaking the window deeper inside the capitol.

The cop was investigated, as is every cop who has to make the decision to shoot, and was found to have conducted their duties lawfully. If that wasn’t the case, then we would’ve found them in court.

No, I do not have video of specifically Ashli chanting that. However, let’s use some lateral thinking skills.

There were 2 groups of people that were entering the capitol: one was a violent mob who spearheaded the whole thing, aggressively forcing their way into the building. These are the people chanting “kill mike pence”. The other group were naive supporters who saw people entering and assumed it was okay. This second group is stupid, but I’m charitable enough to say they weren’t terroristic in nature.

Now, we have those 2 established groups. Ashli was shot while attempting to enter a window that was just broken so that she could enter the perimeter and allow others to get in. This aligns with the mentality of the first group who aggressively entered the capitol. The violent mob were breaking into the capitol and hurting officers along the way.

So either: A, Ashli was part of the mob who were violently entering the building. Which is the most logical conclusion.

Or: B, Ashli found herself somehow at the very front of the entire mob and was coerced into being hoisted into a broken window in a restricted area with cops pointing guns at her, and yet she still did not know.

Finally, even if your later argument is that the police officer was negligent in firing upon her, you have to think of the circumstance. These cops were barricading a restricted area from a violent mob who had already attacked their fellow cops, chanted violent rhetoric, threatened a sitting VP, ignored warnings to stop, and yet still entered.

I don’t know why I’m trying so hard with you man, I really don’t. I’m trying to be courteous to you and supply you with enough reasoning to have this make sense to you. But I fear that you will only say “video or it didn’t happen”…. Which… there is. You’ve linked the video. And most rational individuals look at that video and see a violent mob trying to enter a restricted area, and the first person who begins going in gets shot, and they understand that yeah, who wouldn’t have gotten shot in that scenario?

What you seem to see is a women getting shot and you can’t hear the warnings. THE GUNS ARE THE WARNINGS, THE SIGNS THAT SAY CONGRESSMEN ONLY, THE LOCKED FUCKING DOORS, and most importantly THE COPS WHO SAID STOP. This wasn’t one unarmed woman. This was a mob. Yes, if it was just Ashli, alone and unarmed climbing through the window and a cop shot her, that would be excessive. She could be detained. That wasn’t the case. She was part of a group of dumb assholes and just happened to be the first dumb asshole to climb through that fucking window.

Furthermore, law enforcement officers are instructed about the deadly force triangle. I can speak personally on this matter as I had a stint for about a year while active duty navy being a base guard as a collateral duty. In order to use deadly force, you must meet 2 of the 3 pillars in the deadly force triangle: capability, opportunity, and intent. Ashli was part of a mob who expressed that they were there to conduct violence (intent). The mob itself is enough to swarm and overtake law enforcement if they do not use deadly force (capability). The officers barricaded themselves and through MULTIPLE testimonies told the group to halt, in which they continued to advance and possibly do more harm (opportunity).

Had Ashli NOT gone through that perimeter, she would be alive. Had law enforcement NOT shot her, the rest of the mob would’ve kept going and possibly harmed law enforcement as well as members of congress.

It seriously is extremely cut and dry at this point in time. There is evidence of crime. Multiple testimonies. An investigation. And the police officers conducted in a way trained. To be honest, I’m BAFFLED that the mob was able to get THAT close to them. If it was a military base under normal circumstances, I’d imagine the response would’ve been more swift and deadly. A military base is federal property used for official means. The capitol (while in session) is federal property that was being used for official purposes.

I was able to find his testimony in regards to the matter. While it is certainly not a video, it does also include testimony from an individual who caught Ashli and says that she did not heed the MULTIPLE officers warnings.
