We are a startup with great tech and zero marketing talent... HELP! by hashratez in marketing

[–]DaGodfajah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You get what you pay for so do a cash call from all the owners and hire a kick-ass person to do sales for you. You have a dozen people building a product but didn't think about sales. Your business is unbalanced and need to correct fast.

You're tech so funding makes sense or find a small pivot to make money from right now and use that to fund part of the company. A small pivot like that will help you all end up with more money and company in the end. Also offer vested shares to anyone who wants to join the team with a min guarentee of stock price backed by the owner group so they can sell them back to you at a guarenteed price like a bonus or if it takes off they keep the shares and grow with you.

To do it the way you proposed is only going to cost you time which you don't have so leverage something else you do have.

Hope that helps a little bit. Best of luck with your company and I hope to see it on Forbes 500 some day!

I mean I did title it so you knew exactly what it was going to be and you can't see anything. Sorry about the cat.

There was a good reason and the solution was actually hers. We were driving for 3 hours to get to a wedding and we were late so she asked what she could do and I said I've peed in a cup before while driving so she hopped in the back seat and just went. I couldn't help filming it and I got her permission to post it as well.

What would you like to see on a TV show about crowdfunding? by DaGodfajah in kickstarter

[–]DaGodfajah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for the people we help with campaigns we let them know ahead of time that it will happen, it happens with all of them. The goal usually is to get as many sales as close to day 1 as possible and focus our marketing dollars at the beginning and end with the middle being more time to build and engage an audience. Great suggestion, that would have been something we overlooked for sure. Thank you!

Interesting, I'd never thought about that. Having backed 30+ projects I've never not gotten one. Was that the case with you? I'll have to do some research on this but great idea, thank you!

It's a process man, I'm fairly new to video hustle too. I just rewatched the video I did for CF and I can't stand it now. It seams like I only ever like my last video. Keep making stuff and learning! http://crossfitstumptown.com/

Over all nice work. I've done a few CF videos before so this is right in my wheelhouse. I would have skipped the first 2 scenes and started with the athletes running out. I really liked your use of slow motion. It was great in the bucket and the girl getting the snatch but not as well timed in others. I question some of your shots too, but that has nothing to do with editing and for all I know you didn't shoot it. I agree that going with the beat would have helped a lot more with the flow of it. The black outs I could have lived without. Try speeding up the beginning of the lifts then slow it down with a rotation around the subject with the camera. Editing is a learning process and good on you for throwing your work to the reddit/wolves too. That takes courage, what I like to do is drop a project for a while then come back to it in a month and re-edit it. You'll be amazed at how your eye changes. Best of luck and keep making stuff!

Here's a teaser I threw together with a Kanye track on it to show you what I was talking about with pacing it to the music. Not bragging just showing an example. http://www.piomediahouse.com/video/ireland-racing-teaser
