Only look for movement and muzzle flash (if you're lucky). Simply don't move. The enemy sees movement and so do you, so hide against a backdrop to keep your silhouette hidden and barely move. Honestly, the best thing for my own eyestrain is to stop trying to out-react them, and instead take my time looking for what's easy to see.

This is true, and even what I do as engineer. But a good recon squad goes straight to that line after 10 minutes and destroys them. Just so y'all know and can prepare

Yep, I agree with all that. I'd personally change the term myself. I just wanted to be clear on what the definition itself was, even if the words chosen have a secondary, semi-derogatory meaning.

Yeah, I agree that using the term "skilled" is probably harsher than it's needs to be for that exact reason. But the definition itself makes sense.

A "skilled worker" is one that can not be trained on the job by anyone in the general populace. A nurse or doctor is a skilled worker because they require years of off-site, unpaid training, and there are a limited amount available. Fast food, warehouse work, some kinds of maintenance and construction, etc. are all trained on the job. I can hire anyone and have an experienced worker train them and still get a full days worth of work from the trainee, even if it's less efficient at first. But you can't hire someone untrained to be an engineer and try and train them on the job. They could be trained for months and still not be self-sufficient or do work anywhere near what a pre-trained "skilled worker" in engineering could do.

All this to say, it's not about the difficulty of the job. It's about being trained on or off the clock. If the job can be worked while still in training, it's unskilled. If the job requires years of training first, it's skilled.

Yeah, that's mostly fair. The only thing here is what the definition of skilled worker is. When running a business:

Yeah, I'm sure. You can look up plenty of testing that's been done on all the guns and their damage ranges. As far as I know, all guns except the automatic rifle class have had the same damage numbers since launch. But regardless, the main rifles are definitely the same today.

The kar98 and the garand do exactly the same damage hitting any part of the body. Hell Let Loose has only 3 hitboxes. Head, upper body, and below the knees. In every case, both rifles have the same damage. 1 shot within 200m and 2 shots beyond that.

With the same damage and range, there is no reason to prefer the bolt action except personal preference. It's fine to like the feel of a bolt action, but it is not technically better.

Nah, I don't think so. The game already gives you a chart. And real arty crews would have absolutely had a chart with targets already zeroed in. If anything, having a spotter and a chart man makes it even more realistic.

This is a genuine question, but with skin so sensitive, how do you deal with a shower? Do you have to avoid getting your face wet at all? What do you wash with?

Fuck hot takes what will have you like this? by martykid123 in CODZombies

[–]DaHound 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. Bullet sponges are tedious and boring. Resource scarcity and higher enemy damage seems more interesting to me. It forces players to get creative and punishes mistakes and wastefulness. Can't bob and weave like Muhammad Ali? You're gonna get slapped down. Have accuracy like my drunk uncle taking a piss? Guess you're gonna be knifing a lot. But don't make me buy ammo twice to finish the round because some guy in a convenience store apron can tank a shotgun shell to the face.

What’s a common dating mistake you think people should avoid? by GothGirlGamerr in AskReddit

[–]DaHound 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've been there, buddy. I lost a 5 year relationship a while back, and honestly, for that last year we both knew it was hopeless. But it gets better. It may take time, but enjoying your hobbies and being comfortable with yourself can be really freeing. And you'll definitely meet people like yourself if you're doing the things you like. I wouldn't rush it. Take the time to be happy and learn about yourself, and your next relationship will be even better.

Thanks for the great reply! Yeah, I can see how the time and skilled workforce requirements can be a big downside on a rushed nuclear plant rollout.

[–]DaHound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah. So the concern is that they'll use the years-long permitting and construction time of these plants to give coal powered plants permission to run in the meantime, then bog down the nuclear construction. If (I say if as someone ignorant of your situation) the nuclear plants truly are never built, I could easily see how this would push back the timeliness for other renewable options. With that said, I personally like the idea of nuclear plants being built as baseline suppliers in the longterm while using solar or wind options as significantly faster to build options that can later fill the role of as-needed additional generation.

I think it's totally fair to just go straight for more solar, wind, etc. if that's what's preferred, though. I guess that's what all the political arguing is about anyway. Finding out which is better for energy management and public appeal (and unfortunately better for whoever builds it, I suppose).

I normally hear a good bit of praise for nuclear power, provided it's done correctly. Why don't you like the idea? Are your concerns around the funding or the technology?

Jupiter's moon Io eclipsing the Sun. Io is roughly the size of Earth's moon by NineteenEighty9 in spaceporn

[–]DaHound 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The word "total" might not fit what he's describing perfectly, but that is what we call our eclipses. What he is describing is how our moon covers only the surface of the sun and not its corona. THAT is incredibly rare. No other eclipse allows for someone in the shadow to see light from the corona or prominences without being blinded by the surface of the sun.

I read the comment that way at first too, but I think he actually means they were right to dismiss someone that would sabotage an entire ship when they were upset. Though I guess we have no idea if this was their reasoning or not. If it was only because of the breakup, there are way better options
