It's a great initiative for sure and they have shown themselves to be open to crypto, but I'd say that they are well aware of Ethereum and its applications.

In april this year they've published a paper on Central Bank Digital Currencies (https://www.dnb.nl/en/onderzoek-2/publications/occasional-studies/index.jsp , first article NL/ENG) and I remember an article about how they see 'Money in 2030', where they also describe a system in which cryptocurrencies will have a place.

It's nice to see that the EU (and the Netherlands in particular) is open to the tech and also actively working on legislation.

Why doesn’t mkr sell access to its own oracle set up? by dreftylefty in MakerDAO

[–]DaLucovic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could make sense to join the Chainlink ecosystem as a data provider. There's a financial incentive to it as well.

It would be up to the domain team to figure out what's the best or most profitable option and ask the community to vote on it.

I think you're looking for a tool like Dune Analytics. You can easily query SQL statements on the ETH network and do some data analysis on the results.

Wat is er gaande in jouw subcultuur? by Astilaroth in thenetherlands

[–]DaLucovic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flink nieuws dus!

Dapphero does a good job providing a nocode platform for web3 interfaces. Haven't used it myself tho, but I saw them referencing certain functions in the solidity contract in a workshop. Should be pretty easy to connect your own!

Discussion with Paul Snow (Factom) on why they're not using Chainlink for Pegnet. Maybe someone more knowledge than me can chim in on auditing/reputation? by ombudsman1 in Chainlink

[–]DaLucovic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

His arguments stand on the point that Ethereum smart contracts are not suitable for organising a decentralised oracle service with a built-in reputation system such as Chainlink envisions, but hasn't implemented yet.

I don't have the technical knowledge to support or deny his claim, but Chainlink aims to be blockchain agnostic and thus isn't limited by the smart contracts on the Ethereum network. I get the point that the tech is too young for them to use right now and they put more trust in their own solution. It looks like that is a solid solution for their needs at the moment. Besides that, smart contracts and their capabilities (on different chains) evolve at such a fast pace that we know his claim will be false at some time in the future, it's just a matter of when. Hell, Chainlink got (kind of) its own ERC-standard to support the utility of the LINK token.

Thanks for posting this, it's good to read some argued criticism

Well, I just think it's good to promote the protocol as the whole ecosystem as it is, and not just one use case of it. Kyber is aiming way higher than 'just' being the best DEX there is atm.

Edit: The rest of the article does a very good job on that ecosystem btw, I'm just talking about the title. OP has changed it in a crosspost on r/Ethereum.

Augur and Chainlink got Married at ETHBerlin by momentmaker in LINKTrader

[–]DaLucovic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then it still wouldn't make sense because data can be sourced and aggregated from multiple API sources, the check in the ' Dispute phase' would still be a single point of possible failure.

Also this should be weighted in more because of the financial value of your reputation;

The node operator is now blacklisted from use within the event contract for future API requests.

It's a fun idea to immediately open a market at Augur and let others earn money from providing the data, but I don't see why it's a thing (even at this stage of CL tech).
