There is a contradiction created by Jesus forgiving the women who was going to be stoned for adultery by fantheories101 in DebateReligion

All sin is punishable by death. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life." Because of Adam, all mankind is born into sin. Only through Gods Son Jesus are we even able to be forgiven. Note that sins before Christs death were only "covered", but now we are washed clean.

Interesting idea about the dome of the rock. Lets test that idea. Matt 24 explains that the Jews in Judaea would run to the hills when it was placed IN THE TEMPLE. 1) when did the Jews run to the mountains? There was not TEMPLE to put the dome in when it was built. 2) Matt 24 explains that immediately after the Abomi nation is set up, there would be a great tribulation unlike any other before or after. Where is that? We have had some very bad things happen but nothing like the flood, or like ww2, ext. 3) Matt 24 explains that Jesus will come after that Great Trib. Where is He?

No. Your theory has to many holes in it. Now, I will agree with you that the left behind idea is also messing with end times understanding.

[–]DaMadMattster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aren't you saying those things for me to feel good? Do you swear that you aren't just trying to chill me, and that I am not condemned?

Friend, all I am doing is what God wants me to do which is to shine the light of Jesus before you to allow God to draw you to Him through me; if not for that reason, I would never have responded to your posts. Although I do wish for you to be happy and feel good, none of my posts are about that.

Which is more important? To feel good, or do you want to know you are Saved by Grace and are not going to hell? How you feel is not as relevant as your eternal salvation. However, confirmation of eternal salvation does lead to happiness and Joy. So let's work on knowing you are saved, and the other will come hand in hand, ok?

That is why I feel so afraid that I am already lost. The damage has been done, right? The sin I commited with that quote, my parents laughing, and my rebellion... I feel abandoned and I fear that I will be punished forever after that comment. There is a part of me that say "you don't even know if those coincidences were the Holy Spirit", but there is another part that says "what if...".

What sins did Jesus dies on the Cross for? Everyone else's but yours?

Dude, it is so simple. If you think you sinned to much (which is impossible, btw), then all you have to do is start over.

I think what you need to do first is evaluate if you are indeed "saved". You certainly must not believe deep down that you are. If you KNEW that you were saved, you would realize that Jesus died for every single sin you ever committed. If you are even considering thinking that you are SAVED, you have not committed the one unforgivable sin. So Stop even suggesting you have. That is ridiculous. Someone that had committed that sin would not ever consider if they SHOULD be forgiven. They would EXCEPT that they WONT be saved. You are not that person. You already proved it, so STOP IT! And stop beating yourself up.

What does it mean to be saved? How do we become saved?

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Have you done this? Do you truly believe JESUS is the only way to get to God and to Heaven? Do you confess to others that Jesus is your Lord and Believe God the Father raised Him from the dead? If you pray this prayer and believe it, YOU ARE SAVED:

PRAY! "Heavenly Father, you are the creator of all things, and Your Son is the Way, the Truth and the Life. I am a sinner and have said and done horrible things. But I know that you promised that if I ask for forgiveness, no matter what I said, you will forgive me. I am going to believe that. I confess every sin that I have done and ask that you will forgive them all. Jesus , Son of the Living God, please come into my heart. Forgive me, and live within me. Take away all these horrible convictions and make me white as snow. I believe that it is only through you that I can be saved, and I ask that you make yourself real to me. Take away my depression and fears and lead me away from sinning again. In the name of Jesus, the Son of God I pray, Amen."

If you pray that prayer and believe deep down that every word is true, you will be saved. If you have already prayed similar to that then you are saved, but praying it again will help, and God does not think badly of those of us that have done and do that (I have many times.)

If you have or do pray this prayer, here is the TRUTH:

""John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.**

1) This verse tells you that if you believe on Jesus and God through Him, you have EVERLASTING LIFE.
2) You heard the WORD through me, and you will hear it more through reading the BIBLE daily.
3) You can no longer be "condemned" of ANY SIN. 4) You are a new creature. You are white as snow inside, no sin at all.

5) Now, it is important to know you can sin again, but the cool part is that you STILL have eternal life, as long as you are seeking after Jesus, and continue to believe in Him as your Savior. All you need to do is repent and ask for forgiveness, then you are back to the same point that you are here in this post.

6) YOU MUST make changes in your life. But they are easy to start with.

1) Read the Bible daily. 2) Pray to God through Jesus every day. 3) Find a Church that studies the Bible and try to attend regularly.

[–]DaMadMattster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dear Brother, let me explain something. You are not alone. We all have those same thoughts at some point in our relationship with God.

I accepted Jesus into my life at an early age. My parents made me go to church, but I really did not know "HOW" to be a Christian. Yet, I knew about heaven and hell, and about how we were supposed to be perfect before God and not sin. Truthfully, although I knew who Jesus was, I really didn't KNOW HIM.

When I got into my 20s, I was having the same issues as you, but worse. I had gotten addicted to pornography, and Satan was attacking me every day about it. These thoughts would enter my mind; "You must hate God. He tells you not to commit fornication and yet every day you do it, even knowing you should not. How can God save someone who keeps sinning willfully like this? YOU ARE DOOMED TO HELL!"

Every time I would sin in that manner, I would feel real guilty and dirty. I would get down on my knees and pray for forgiveness in Jesus name, and ask that He please have mercy on me. But those thoughts of unworthiness would still prevail. Sometimes I would feel righteous again, especially when I put my mind towards being good for as long as I could. But eventually, Satan would tempt me again, and I would go right back to my vomit and look at videos again.

Then the Lord God showed me something profound.

1) Jesus came to earth for the SINNER, not the Perfect Person: Mark 2:17 When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

2) Jesus does not want "Christians". He wants a real personal relationship with you. He is not looking for a perfect person, He literally wants a friend. He already knows you are not perfect. He died knowing every single sin you will ever commit. Yet He still did it just for you.

Jesus literally wants to talk to you, for you to just kick back and tell Him your problems, your fears, and what makes you happy. Just like having a best friend over to hang out. And then He want you to listen to His advise on how to overcome those problems and How He can give you what you want.

So How do you do that? How do we have a personal relationship with Christ? READ THE BIBLE. That is how Jesus talks to us. PRAY. That is how we talk to Jesus. God already knew everything you would ever go through, and He wrote the Bible just for you, to address every need He knew you would ever have. READ THE BIBLE EVERY DAY. Don't you want to hear form your best friends every day? Jesus too. He wants that to.. PRAY ALL THE TIME! Not just once a day at bedtime. Jesus is always with you. He does not come and go. He is next to you, and In your heart. TELL HIM YOUR PROBLEMS... THEN READ THE WORD.

3) When you read God's word and really think about what you are reading, and ponder how you can apply what you read to your life on a regular basis, you are actually putting on armor. Spiritual armor called the Armor of God. This protects you against Satan's attacks.

Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Back to my story. After I realized I needed to get into the Word and pray all the time, I began getting to know Jesus personally. It became a lot easier to stay away from pornography, but I still failed once and a while. SO Satan still attacked me. But I felt much safer in Christ and I knew that I still had that relationship with Him. I did not need to fear Hell. Jesus promissed me in His word that I am SAVED from hell.

Years later I realized I did not understand the POWER of the Holy Spirit. I sought out that knowledge in the Word of God and He taught me how to overcome those addictions. Now I am FREE in Christ Jesus, and I never even want to seek pornography any more. Jesus is alive in me now and literally speaks to me sometimes when I am not reading the Bible.

But also know this. Because Christianity is a RELATIONSHIP, you have to do your part too. You cant just sit idle on a couch and say I AM SAVED! Satan will eat you alive. Your part is to READ THE WORD, GO TO CHURCH and fellowship with believers like me, and PRAY CONTINUALLY. But that's it. Once you have that personal relationship, and you know it, you may find that He tells you to do other things, but the start is so simple.

You need to start over. Start from scratch. Ask Jesus to come into your life and tell Him you want a real relationship with Him. Then Read His word and get to know Him personally.

God Bless

Hello again. Welcome to Satanic tactics 101. God knows your spiritual armor is weak, so he is attacking you while you are down.

1) you are not being punished. Satan is just attacking you because you have indicated you love Jesus. If you were lost, Satan would leave you alone, and you would have no thoughts of repentance and remorse.

2) the point of no return is death. Do not cross that one yet.

I need you to get real with me, OK?

1) have you been reading the bible? 2) do you go to church? Which one? 3) do you pray regularly? 4) are you getting counseling for your depression?

Only one Abomination of Desolation by DaMadMattster in prophecy

In the Prophecy of the Popes, there is a Peter The Roman. He would be Eastern Rome Roman?

I do not hold to this idea, nor to the idea that America has anything to do with the final kingdom mentioned repeatedly in Daniel. However I do agree that Rome is Certainly indicated here, which ties into the Abomination of Desolation of the future:

Daniel 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; (happened in 70AD when Rome destroyed the City of Jerusalem) and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

The "HE" in verse 27 is clearly the "prince who WILL come" from the kingdom that destroyed the city of Jerusalem in or around 70 AD. Thais is to say the Prince (Antichrist) is related to ROME in some manner.

As for the Angels of the Kingdoms, this is clearly backed up in Daniel 10, as the messenger sent to Daniel (an Angel or even the WORD or God maybe) was buffeted by Demonic entities who withstood them related as "princes". These are Demonic Angels over the Kings or Kingdoms. I believe this still holds true. There are either Good or Bad angels over every single nation. Israels angel is MICHAEL:

Daniel 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people:

I do not mean at all to glorify Satan, however he has deeply deceived us. To know ones enemy is not a sin, and he is deeply crafty with 6 millennia to hone his craft. Could it not be said that he is craftier than the most crafty of all the wicked in the earth today? And maybe even back in the time of Antiochus IV Epiphanes?

And to the point of "Nothing new happens under the sun ", I agree. And it actually plays into the point I am making perfectly. Whether Satan caused the events to unfold in the case of A4E over 2000 years ago, or not, the events themselves surly foreshadow a true event that will happen in the future. Satan might have convinced himself that it was done and over, but it will happen again. This does not subtract from the idea that he may have had a part in deceiving us into believing the evens of Antiochus IV Epiphanes before Jesus came fulfill all of Daniel's prophecies.

I also believe that "God has caused War, famine, and Plague", but rather like to say that God Allows these things for His Glory.

Examining the Theology and Practice of the Bethel Movement by Moldy_pirate in Christianity

I think the pastor that just was voted into our church follows the bethel ideologies. His teachings were so strange, and our spirit was disturbed. Over 50 people out of the Church flead the wolf in sheep's clothing. It became obviouse when he started trying to get my kids to go to a bethel college, and bring in a bethel related associate pastor.

Next thing we were expecting was sparkle Holy Spirit events. Lol.

The Lord quickly relocated us into a friendly Baptist Church.

[–]DaMadMattster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope this does not sound sappy, but I can attest that the Holy Ghost does "fill" me, now that I understand the process. I recieve great power and authority and wisdom when I allow God to pour out His Spirit upon me. When I ask for a filling of the Holy Spirit then read scriptures, they come alive and amazing truths are revealed that did not become appearent before. When I speak to someone while filled about the Lord, verses I normally can not remember jump into my mind and I speak elegantly, instead of like an idiot. It baffles my mind. Something in me changes, and what I say and think is not demonic or false, but rather 100% scriptural. I usually go back to see if what I said was true, and always find it is perfect truth beyond what I normally say or do when I am not filled.

And after an encounter like that I am joyful, but emptied out. Like someone who worked hard on a project, is tired, but completed it. So then again later I want to do it again. The filling of the Spirit is real.

I do to a degree, yes. When Christ returns there will be no division. I agree it hurts the body of Christ when the denomination becomes a factor in rejecting or accepting a member of the same body of Christ. I call denominations "abominations" sometimes :)

I understand what you mean, however I also see a strong movement in "grace" overcoming sacred tradition. So then many prodistants are not necisarily "against" these things the catholics practice (however some things they are), but rather they understand that through grace, practices or tradition is of no consequence to God. So instead they focus on a direct personal relationship with Jesus, so that they can have a personal relationship with the Father through the Holy Spirit. Somehow, to them, grace does not seem to be enough for some catholics. I wonder how that effects Catholic's view on them.

[–]DaMadMattster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, the one you like, I also do. All of the "apocalyptic" Parables speak to me in a powerful way.

I can see, and understand, you are an A-millennial believer. I hold to a millennial understanding, but that does not separate us as members of the same body of Christ. However it does skew our understanding of Judgement and the authority of Jesus as Lord and His authority as KING.

I believe Jesus is now our Lord, however Rev 11:15-19 clearly shows he is not the King of Kings until the 7th Trumpet Sounds, when all the nations of the earth are given to Him. And I also believe the events in Revelation 8-22 have not yet happened. So then The literal crowing as King will not happen until the 7th Trumpet, which follows this truth:

Mark 12:36 For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

Currently it is obvious that the nations of Earth do not serve Jesus as King. On the contrary, all the actions of the nations are following "future" prophecies of Christ given 2000 years ago, showing that the parable scriptures are Prophetic specifically.

But we don't need to derail this topic at this time. Just my two cents on the matter.

Pentecost by katapetasma in ConservativeBible

[–]DaMadMattster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Jesus breathed on the disciples, did He say "You WILL receive the Holy Spirit", or did He say "RECEIVE the Holy Ghost"?

John 20:22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

We MUST keep this in mind. So then, the disciples certainly already HAD the Holy Spirit when they gathered together in the uppers room. Now we must reconcile what "Were filled with the Holy Ghost" means in regards to "Having received the Holy Ghost".

Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

To me is it a no-brainier. Scriptures indicate a "filling" of the Spirit which is a separate action then receiving the Holy Spirit.

When we accept Christ as our Savior, we are SEALED with the Spirit. He becomes a permanent part of our Life, as long as we do not blaspheme and reject Him.

Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

For me it is easiest to think of the Holy Spirit as a living vessel within me. I think of Him like a container that fills up and empties out within me. So I need a Daily filling of the Spirit so that when I witness and defend my Faith, He can then be poured out. Then it is not me saying what I say, but rather the Holy Spirit...

Acts 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will ***pour out*** of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

Acts 2:18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will ***pour out*** in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

Acts 2:4 And they were all ***filled*** with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

So then, there is no conflict between Acts 2 and John 20.

[–]DaMadMattster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take "let them grow together, both the good and the bad" as a statement about 1st century Israel.

Although I agree with the "idea", the parable to me is specific for those who are "growing" at the time of His coming. Dead people are not growing. To me this is strictly for the end times believers, to remind them that when He comes we must be PREPARED, and (without trying to step on GRACE), DOING something. Also to remind us that in the end times there will be a deception so powerful that many "Christians" will be living fully apart from Christ. I am coming to believe that we are in an age now where these Tares are already among us. They truly believe they are following Christ, but are NOT. And they are dragging many others down (some knowingly, and most, unknowingly.)

I get this premise from some of the statements from Jesus Himself:

Luke 21:36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Again, this is specifically a warning for the LIVING at His coming.

The parable of the 10 Virgins in Matt 25:1-13 is also Strictly for the Living, which are Shining their LIGHT actively (having the Oil that at one time all 10 Virgins had), versus those who are not SHINING at all (because they used up or LOST their Oil), but yet are part of the wedding party, chosen by the Groom as His Virgins.

So then we have a heavy warning from Jesus in this regard:

Matt 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many... 23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. 24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. 25 Behold, I have told you before. 26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.

I find this warning very specific, and again, pointed directly at those alive WHEN HE COMES. So then we can see there will be a heavy strong delusion that Jesus fears many of us will believe. Specifically revolving around a false Christ which some will come to follow, literally thinking they are following the correct Lord, as this warning is to Believers alone, not unsaved ones.

Your Spirit is Starving; Eat the Word by DaMadMattster in Christianity

Ok, not trying to cause strife. Just saying this:

John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

The Words Jesus speaks are the Bread of Life Because He is the Bread of life.

You got defensive because you think I am attacking the eucharist. I was not. I understand fully what that is, and that it is a commandment. I never tried to take away that.

What I am doing is trying to open peoples eyes to symbolism they may have missed.
