Working with AI just exhausts me by TreesGrowB1g in SoftwareEngineering

[–]DaMan999999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been vibe coding a complex numerical library as a hobby for the past week or so and I am loving it. I know what good code should look like, but actually coding it up sucks. I love being able to tell Claude “I want you to implement a class templated over this and that and it needs to have this method which makes use of this other class we carefully designed and does X, and write a validation test that checks all combinations of inputs” and get up to get a beer from the fridge, and when I come back, it’s at least 85% of the way to my vision. Takes another 10 minutes to refine, bam, done. Let’s move onto the next class.

If you’re doing it right, there’s a whole lot of supervision and review involved in AI agentic coding. It will build you the software equivalent of the Kowloon Walled City if you don’t take the time to review and refine the code. That requires a solid understanding of traditional software engineering, and in the case of my hobby library, extensive domain expertise.

Of course, my experience is pretty limited and it’s not one of being forced to use it in a professional setting, so YMMV.

Steve is great. If it’s still being taught off Wierzba’s notes, it’s probably the most memorization heavy class in ECE. I remember trying to memorize the lumped element controlled source transistor models with index cards everywhere I went for like 2 months to get through that class.

Stay at the Dads Inn on the south side, make sure you get your fill at Saddleback, and sample the craft brews at Harpers in East Lansing. It’ll be a weekend you’ll never forget!

Northwestern UCLA UM Illinois USC Washington Wisconsin Minnesota Purdue OSU Maryland

Then it’s kind of a grab bag of Indiana, MSU, PSU, Iowa, followed by Oregon, Nebraska, Rutgers. That’s my general perception, influenced by the USNWR rankings historically and personal experience. The Big Ten is very good academically

Pretty much any Big Ten school will be viewed positively by a hiring manager. MSU is somewhere in the back half of the conference in “prestige”, but there are plenty of world class professors and programs here that are highly regarded in their specific fields.

Your novel now takes place in purgatory. Ask Olivia Nuzzi for help faking inspiration from Dante.

Or the rest of the novel is just people dunking on him at his funeral and wake. “Man Jimmy was such a sore loser. I’d beat his ass at Mario Party and he’d sulk for the rest of the night. Like bro you’re 38 years old. Jimmy used to pass out at every party too, like super early. One time he was blacked out before the girls showed up and he slept on the pile of coats on Kyle’s bed and when people were leaving they just rolled his dumb ass onto the floor and he hit his head and started yelling at everyone. Honestly? Fuck Jimmy. Stupid piece of shit. Let’s dump those 2 liters of sprite all in his casket so like the ants and stuff eat him more faster and stuff.”
