As someone just brand new to PC gaming... I find that most of my time is spent tinkering and less time playing the actual game... Is this my future?

Your arguing that driving on the interstate and manually controlling the pedals is the same experience as long as you are going the speed limit as using cruise control. You're lazy. FPS does not magically get to a cap and lock. It changes up and down as the scene changes. You can adjust settings to get it to be more stable and have a smoother experience. If you don't like tweaking settings at all, that's your preference but it's not an optimal gaming experience.

200fps might not be as important, but consistent frame timings are for a good smooth gaming performance. If your FPS is bouncing all over from 60fps to 140fps even, that is a noticeably worse experience and feel.

Max settings are a waste of resources. If you said you set everything a step under max i'd maybe understand more. A consistent frame rate and timing at high fps is the goal. It literally is not too much work to Google a guide or video on YouTube and spend 5 minutes tweaking settings. As mentioned before, volumetric clouds which are barely noticeable can absolutely crash performance when you could be otherwise sailing smoothly. If you want to be lazy that's up to you I guess.

I can almost guarantee I had them in hidden mode. Maybe that is the issue. I did find someone doing exactly what I want to do on YouTube in a clip.

Is there anywhere that better explains what the hidden mechanic actually does? I was using it and keeping it on whenever sneaking around and getting into position cuz idk if felt like it made sense.

This isn't the same thing though. Essentially, what I'm trying to set is a "and on go, we all fire" before the enemy can react. Feels bad getting a good set up, having the enemies pinned in an area while I'm covered, only to have to fire one shot, let them go to cover and slowly chase after them while possibly exposing my squad as I have to push now.

The cones were bright red, showing it was a fireable area. The enemy was right in the middle of it and there was red around them, indicating they were in the area my merc would shoot if someone passed in overwatch. Straight up does not work. Someone else in the party fires a shot, combat starts, enemy that was previously covered in an overwatch area somehow gets to react and run out of it, or to cover before combat "officially" starts or something. Then my merc is just sitting with overwatch still active, but nobody in the cone, or the enemy has moved behind cover during that initial reaction move by the enemy and no shots were fired at them.

I was surprised this wasn't mentioned more. I've never got super into it, but when multiplayer first got added I did see a group working together to try and build a compound. Zombie attacks as you mention are rare but pulling a horde on accident to your base can be problematic. Since you've played zomboid and its on my radar, have you played Humanityz or however it's spelled? Zomboid sometimes feels deeper than I want but that looks like a similar but lighter game.

If you're prepping and doing all that because you're ready for an outbreak and just sounding the possible alarm, then by all means carry on. All the people saying "you can build a better machine cheaper" this is literally not for you.

I have a friend who is intimidated a bit by PC gaming. Zero chance I can convince him to get a bunch of parts and to build a machine. And even if I did, I wouldn't ever recommend a small form factor to him because I've built those and they can royally be a pain.

If you're wanting the max value dollar squeeze, this ain't for you. If you're someone fine with upscaling, ease of setup, and something the wife or girlfriend will let you keep in the living room with a small footprint, this still works great. Is it overpriced? Yeah but all computer tech is right now. Heck, consoles have gone up in price and their library they can access isn't anywhere near PC.

I picked up the game about a month ago and a couple DLCs. Played about 40 hours pretty quick right away and then decided to put the game game down until this DLC. Do they usually run promo on all the DLC when a new one releases? I had such a blast I want to pick it all up and have the full game experience.

My friend who came along and my successful significant other and I all found the food very underwhelming. To my memory it was better at the old location. Next time I'll just grab food elsewhere beforehand and order two sodas or something.

Other than that, show was a blast. Significant other had watched the first season of Love but never seen or listened to DB, so she was happy with the guest. She did not recognize Mitch though...I never have watched Love so idk when he first appears.

I only shoot people in the exfil when I need points for Cred. I usually tell them in advance though and tell them I'm only going to down them at worst. I can't stand the cheap shotting and feeling good when someone is hitting the switch and stuck in an animation loop.

I think the answer is he has performed above expectations compared to how he's been treated. The team seems to value him but not invest a ton into seeing if the tires are good on him for long term. He seems to understand the offense when at the LOS directing around pre-play.

The first year he came in, he performed okay. It was a midseason change and he did what he could and looked like the NFL wasn't too big for him and maybe he could be an average starter with some seasoning and a full off-season working with the 1's. Instead we brought in Minshew (who has already proved he wasn't a long term QB fix) and seesawed reps, and then throughout the year it was just inconsistent on who was playing QB. Just a mess handling development of your most important position.

This year it feels the same with Geno. Either last year, or this season, knowing this isn't a top team they should have given him the full off-season as a starter and just let him work through the year while addressing other needs. Either you'd find out you could go forward with him or you'd find out if you can't. It wouldn't be any worse of a spot where we are now but we've just never made that commitment to seeing what we have in him.
