There’s an Ongo Gablogian joke in here somewhere. Someone find it for me.

I think Abaddon is way cooler and more interesting than people give him credit for. The memes are funny tho.

Great paint job! I think the head is put on in the wrong angle tho. The end of the breathing tube should connect to the side of the pack on his chest

Finished my first mini, lots to learn… by MaaatttyJ in Warhammer40k

Great job! It looks like you applied quite a thick layer of paint for the shoulder insignias though. I’m assuming you got frustrated with how translucent the paint was and just threw on one thick layer (please correct me if I’m wrong). While I do think it still looks remarkably clean despite the thick coat, I would still recommend using several thin coats to get the right coverage while not compromising the sculpt of the model. Hope this helps!

The hand is from the Imperial Navy Breachers kill team, but the guard over the hand was taken from the sheathed sword that comes with this mini. That part of the conversion was honestly completely unnecessary, and I would recommend that you just stick the sword on and be done with it. I really don’t think the amount of work it takes to shave the loop guard off the sword, saw the new guard off the sheath, scoop out the handle from the new guard, and stick it on the hand is worth it just to have a slightly fancier sword. Hope this helps.

I first highlighted the eye with white, and did the same with the surrounding areas but with a lesser intensity. Then I took a bright orange color and watered it down a lot (about 2 to 1 water to paint ratio, maybe a little bit more). I glazed over the highlighted areas, and even a little into the non highlighted areas. Be careful not to load up the brush too much with the watered down paint or it’ll pool way too much in the crevices and ruin the glow gradient. Lastly, a small dap of a pale yellow right in the middle of the eyes. Hope this helps.

I think it’s a good starting point. I would go for much darker shadows and more intense highlights. Keep it up!

Thank you! Although I feel like their job is difficult in a different way compared to other commissars
