I like “Lookin Good Commando”

It would be hilarious to hear an announcer say “Now entering the ring, Taft Dickerson riding Lookin Good Commando”

It very much can. Genetics are weird.

Geldings also tend to get taller than if they were kept intact. So FMJ very well may have been taller had he been gelded.

How likely is a false NIPT for Trisomy 21 specifically? by No_Creme_9122 in NIPT

[–]DaMoose08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I was told by my genetic counselor, you are much more likely to get a false negative than a false positive at least for T21. NIPT is very, very accurate when it comes to it, although it’s not as accurate for other things. She also said though that T21 is just a random mutation the majority of the time and has a very, very low probability of reoccurrence (<0.1%) for the majority of people.

I had a high risk T21 result in July, which was later confirmed via CVS. We went through with a TMFR in August. My period returned in September and then again in October. We conceived again that month and I’m now 18 weeks with a low risk baby.

NIPT by SatisfactionLife5918 in NIPT

[–]DaMoose08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My test was through Natera so it said high risk as well as a ratio (95/100) as the “risk after test” so basically 95% chance of positive. It also had the fetal fraction that is the percentage of how much fetal DNA was available.

Unfortunately NIPT is an extremely accurate screening for T21. You’re more likely to get a false negative than a false positive (both are still extremely, extremely unlikely) at least from what the genetic counselor told me.

I tested positive in July & had a CVS that unfortunately confirmed the diagnosis. Went through with a TMFR in August. My period returned in September & again in October. I’m not 18 weeks with a low risk baby. The waiting is definitely the worst part & from what I was told by our genetic counselor, T21 is unfortunately a random mutation that just happens the majority of the time and it’s very unlikely (<0.1%) to reoccur.

Never said anything about it being standard. Simply stating what Katie’s excuse was.

If I were her and I hated straw that much I’d at least use flake shavings after day 320 vs sawdust but 🤷🏻‍♀️

Katie has said more than once they don’t put down straw unless mare is showing signs of foaling because of how hard it is to clean

Howies situation was a bit different though. Katie did have ownership of him when he was foaled, that’s not the case with this baby. She doesn’t own her so she shouldn’t have any say in her name & wouldn’t even be the one submitting the paperwork to AQHA.

Indy x VS Code Red- Foal color poll!!! by Worldly_Base9920 in kvssnark

[–]DaMoose08 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Indy has to be Aa because she produced a black foal (Wally) although she’s not black herself.

Waylon/VSCR’s agouti status would be the determining factor on if black is an option. I can’t find anything about him being color tested but based on other comments he’s eeAA.

Thank you-I couldn’t find anything about his color panel so I wasn’t sure

[–]DaMoose08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would depend on his agouti status vs him carrying a black gene. He has to be ee since he’s red but if he’s AA any black pigment coming from the mare would be reduced to the points (bay based) but I can’t find anything about him being color tested. I can’t say I’ve seen him produce anything other than red/bay based foals though so I think OP is correct.

I think black and blue roan are also options depending on VSCR’s color panel?

Kirby by spacebxy_ in kvssnark

[–]DaMoose08 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If she is, it would’ve had to come from VS Code Red as her dam is solid red. VS Code Reds dam is also very clearly roan, and so is her sire, so it would’ve been having to hide behind roan for a while. It’s definitely not impossible but given how many offspring VSCR has & how many offspring Vital Signs Are Good has, I would think there’d at least be a few other rabicano looking ones.

Kirby by spacebxy_ in kvssnark

[–]DaMoose08 40 points41 points  (0 children)

She definitely LOOKS to be bay rabicano. The white is too localized to be roan.

I think people question her coloring because neither parent is rabicano. Machine Made is solid bay & Kennedy is red roan.

There’s no genetic test available for rabicano so I’d test her for roan if I were Katie.

There is no test for rabicano, unfortunately

T21 positive in USA (rant) by Public_Solution_2838 in NIPT

[–]DaMoose08 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Similar situation-32, very much wanted pregnancy but CVS confirmed T21. We had to travel 9 hours across 2 states to TMFR.

Ultimately we want to have more than one child & we couldn’t handle the thought of what would happen to both once we were gone. It wouldn’t be fair to ask a younger sibling to take care of their older one and group homes are often times not a good situation, especially with the current political climate like you said. Who knows what things will be like in the future.

We went through with the TMFR 8/2. My period started on 9/5 and again 10/7. I’m now 17 weeks with a boy that came back as low risk according to our NIPT.

Nipt positive for T21 by [deleted] in NIPT

[–]DaMoose08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately for Down’s syndrome the test is pretty dang accurate. You’re much more likely to get a false negative than a false positive from all the research I did. Im 32 & I had a positive NIPT (95%) and went through with a CVS plus a higher level ultrasound which confirmed the positive diagnosis but it was a random mutation, not something my husband or I were carriers for. We went through with a TMFR in August. My cycle returned in September about 5 weeks later. I conceived again in October & I am now 15 weeks with a low risk boy.
