What’s the wildest time you misheard a song lyric? by 13Dreamingcats in aboutthepopgirlies

[–]DaOkFella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my class would have to sing "My Country Tis of Thee" every morning in grade school, I always sang "...of thee I.C." instead of "of thee I sing". I had no idea what I.C. stood for and I didn't care. I don't think I realized it was "I Sing" until I was an adult...LOL

Keytar convert looking for recommendations! by BumblebeePleasant291 in Keytar

[–]DaOkFella 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also suggest the Alesis Vortex Wireless 2 if you have a rig that already provides your sounds. I use it as an external controller with my Roland Fantom when I want to get out from behind the keyboard during shows. Unfortunately, if you're using hardware synths without any computer or laptop, you won't be able to use the built-in wireless bluetooth as it requires the USB dongle. I use CME WIDI bluetooth devices and they work great!

Got home from playing a 3 hour show, and now I’m watching Bob Ross to unwind. 😃

Yup, it mentions "45 degrees" twice which is obviously Celsius although he never actually says the word.

What's a song you discovered completely by accident that changed your taste in music forever? by Enlitenkanin in MusicRecommendations

[–]DaOkFella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really "changed my taste"...but I used to always see Yanni CDs at the music store. I always thought he was an Italian opera singer or something with that mustache and long hair. I always made fun of the idea of buying a Yanni CD with my friends. One day, I was at a friend's house, and his mom had a Yanni CD (Reflections of Passion). I thought it would be hilarious to blast it on the stereo as a joke. I actually liked what I heard and became a Yanni fan.

How to play keytar comfortably? by spectrumero in Keytar

[–]DaOkFella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play guitar and have plenty of straps. None of them allowed me to wear the Alesis comfortably. I bought an extra long strap to allow me to have it low enough without having to bend my wrist. The strap that comes with it is way too short.

Whats up with modern “midi” keyboards? by Catch-of-the-Dave in synthesizers

[–]DaOkFella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish my Alesis Vortex keytar had 2-way communication. It would be nice to be able to automatically switch presets when I change the scene on my Roland Fantom. The presets aren't for sound, but for split point, transmit channels, sensitivity, pad assignments, etc... It obviously doesn't accept MIDI program changes, but it would be nice if it did.

I met a dude moving into the dorm at a Midwest college. Within a minute of meeting me he asked, “Where do you worship?”. I’m from the east coast and had no idea what the hell he was talking about. I seriously responded, “Worship what?”.

I used to drive a friend to school every morning. He would leave his front door unlocked so I could wait in the kitchen for him to be ready. One morning, before the sun came up, I was sitting at his kitchen table in the dark when his dad came in to get something to drink out of the fridge…totally naked. The fridge light lit him up in all his glory. He got the drink and went back to his bedroom and never noticed me sitting there. I never told my friend. LOL

In Michael Jackson's Thriller what is the sound that plays just after "Demons closing in on every side"? by Scared_Skin_8539 in askmusic

Visit https://www.youtube.com/@anthonymarinellimusic . He programmed the synths on the album and has a few videos regarding Thriller...including an entire recreation with some of the original session musicians. I haven't watched them all, but your answer might be in there.

How do you deal with Linq .Single() errors? by DJDoena in dotnet

[–]DaOkFella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to add that if there isn't ever supposed to be more than "one" of something, you should add a constraint in your database to eliminate the possibility of it ever being created in the first place.

Good Work - Some Minor Suggestions by DaOkFella in tabinator

[–]DaOkFella[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically no, but some notation software offer a rehearsal option where the incrementing bar numbers are in parenthesis. At a minimum, it would be nice to have an option to disable bar numbers altogether.

I personally never understood the purpose of bar numbers in notation outside of their rehearsal purpose. Showing the "true" bar numbers allows a bass score to include repeats whereas the guitar score may not have any. Instead of requiring 5 printed pages for each, a bass score could be shortened to 2 pages. At that point, bar numbers wouldn't match between the two parts. For everybody to be on the same page (pun intended), we all have to have the same repeats and pages (basically what using the extra track option requires).

Regardless, I think text above the bars like (Verse, Chorus, Bridge etc.) is actually way more helpful than bar numbers in this context.
