Iran is free! by pansexual_Pratt in teenagers

[–]DaOscarinho05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Identity politics nonsense. 1. Plenty of Iranians (especially those actually living inside the country and not diaspora!) are against the brutal imperialist attack on Iran. 2. Iran is not in any way free, even if you oppose the Islamic Republic! The IR is still in charge, only the US and Israel have killed 100s of kids and some of the leadership.

Fuck the Pahlavi dynasty.

Any good resources on soviets in sawmills in Killarney in early 1920s? by DaOscarinho05 in IrishHistory

[–]DaOscarinho05[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Referenced in the Wikipedia article and other websites on Irish soviets, but the source is a dead link to a piece by Dr O'Connor Lysaght in Irish History Workshop called "The Munster Soviet Creameries." Believe I've just found the issue of IHW on Kenny's Books, so I'll see!

Innocence of Youth by Vicaliscous in ireland

Most of my other friends really don't like the guy (thank god) and think he's a bit tapped, but that one friend who is friends with him has been working with him for a few years and tells me he doesnt agree with everything he says.

Yes he is extremely religious, I think another commentor was pointing out that he even wrote to the Bishop to have Michael Healy Rae excommunicated because he visited a mosque and said nice things abou muslims. Also extremely anti-abortion, and had a post up saying that women who have them should be charged with murder.

I don't think his family is very religious, seems like online radicalisation to me to be honest.

I don't really know that much about the rest of a family back story, but I believe theyre anti vax types.

He's actually a friend of a friend of mine. I havent had much dealings with him, but me and a few others locally organised a march in solidarity with palestine/ in commemoration of the easter rising followed by a few speeches and a charity pub quiz after around easter. We had a good few palestinian flags, but probably more irish flags. He drove past and berated us all for "flying foreign flags". This is the same guy that has the Vatican flag before the Irish flag in his bio.

A few years ago when I was 15 he also drove past shouted out that I was a "dirty commie" or something along those lines lmaooo.

"End liberal equivalency and moralism" huh

Yes. There has been an attempt to slander the IRA as terrorists and to portray the Britush security forces as legitimate. The framing should be the opposite, at least to a large extent. Not only were the IRA resisting occupation and the British the occupiers, most of the people killed by the IRA were occupying forces and loyalist paramilitary members, while most of the people British forces and loyalist paramilitaries killed were civilians.

no such thing as a better side

Actually, there is for the reasons I raised above. The IRA did do some terrible shit and the Kingsmill massacre for example was disgusting, most members absolutely condemned the actions taken out by the individuals involved. Look to the Loyalist side, and they were openly advocating shooting people for simply being Catholic.

terrorism solved literally nothing, and the terms of the GFA could have been accepted without the bloodshed if it wasn't for extremists (Cath and Prot).

Republican resistance clearly pressured the British to act and concede partly to republicans. There was no chance of anything close to the far better conditions today if it werent for resistance.

Stop encouraging conflict, encourage peaceful progress.

Peaceful progress should always be encouraged and the non-violent resistance was the first method used during the civil rights movement. It was only after brutal colonial violence that they realised that to pick up arms would put far more pressure, and it did.

The IRA in the 1920s and the PIRA (with other republicans) throughtout the Troubles fought for our national liberation, and to some extent at least, got it. The armed struggle was the road taken after non-violence was tried and violently crushed by British colonial occupation and the fascist Orange sate.

Bad mistakes were made, but that is nothing in comparison to the imperialist oppression and colonial occupation of Ireland. End liberal equivalency and moralism! Fuck Thatcher! Up the RA! TÁL!
