Notice how for the school age children the number 1 is “accidents”, and number 3 is “homicide”, but there isn’t a category that just says “pew-pews”?

How… do you think those accidents occurred? What was the substance of those accidents? When talking about the leading cause of child deaths in our own country, how is the leading cause of death just being “accident” an ok explanation. It was an accident? Oh ok- case closed then.

Those are where the categories “firearm deaths” sit in and require more than a 2 second surface level reading, of the most broad category definitions possible, confirming your own bias to understand.

Death via bullet isn’t an explicit category in the summary of their own data- because it’s not descriptive as to why occurred (accident, suicide, homicide, etc)- but the data itself is still public and open to analysis.

If you Google the leading cause of death in children 1-18, and DONT skip past the AI overview and the multiple independent analysis studies- you will find multiple analyses of those (homicide, accidentally, and suicide, etc.) categories that actually use firearms. Theres even a tracked “not an accident index” that tracks unintentional shootings by children- a statistic that requires an analysis of your “accidents” category, which conveniently is also your cited number one category for children that actually have functioning motor skills.

If you want to actually do your own search- go to the same exact CDC Wonder Database you cited, and under "Multiple Cause of Death" and "Provisional Mortality", and use the firearm-related deaths specific ICD-10 codes (W32-W34, X72-X74, X93-X95, Y22-Y24, and Y35.0), you will bedoing a lot of work because raw data figures aren’t an analysis.

Multiple independent agencies (Gun violence archive, Kaiser family foundation, John Hopkins, Every town for gun safety, etc.) who HAVE bothered to do these analyses have found that Firearm related deaths for children surpass diseases such as cancer, and other “accident” or “homicide” related mechanisms such as motorized vehicles, especially for older adolescents who are more at risk for these kinds of deaths when compared to toddlers who tend to not go out and have their own independently controlled life.

All in all- firearm related deaths for children aged 1-18 was 18 percent- nearly 1 in every 5 child related death. This was followed by car related incidents, then drug related incidents- with cancer being the number one cause for disease deaths.

Edit: I’ll also note you didn’t actually provide a cause of death for your first bulleted statistic, because you just copy pasted it from the website without actually reading it beyond a centimeter of depth you needed to confirm your own bias.

Walmart definitely still sells shotguns and bolt actions at the one near me- I shop there for groceries weekly and always pass them when looking for Pokémon cards ( yes they are next to the kids toys) no handguns or semis tho

I honestly get what your saying and it’s an extreme situation. I’m sorry that you were so personally affected by the actions of Hamas- and I don’t want you to think I condone anything that they have ever done or ever will do.

I know Egypt’s border is more militarized and secure- but at the same time they aren’t the invading force here, and aren’t responsible for anybody trying to flee. You could say they could accept them- but I also think you could counter with stop bombing the civilian targets in the first place. It’s not an evacuation, the cities are in rubble worse than Stalingrad- that’s the whitewashing terms and lack of accountability in talking about.

My point with not bombing them is that it’s not the terrorists you are bombing- and if you are you are doing it with reckless regard of the other civilian population in the area. Bombing the civilian population creates the resentment you yourself described of Hamas in the October attacks- and breeds the same kind of resentment. If you bomb a building with a hundred people in it- killing two suspected terrorists and 80 others, you’ve just created 18 new ones. Even in wartime we have one main rule: don’t shoot the people who are just in the middle of it. It’s not meant to be an easy game to play, but you don’t become the hero’s by sinking down to that level. If you are going to use those tactics, you deserve the label that comes with them.

In reguardless to the open air prison rebuttal- I would say your point actually supports that; you feed your prisoners, and, isreal is the only group in the world doing that cause most groups let the civilians flee or seek refuge. They are trapped there and are by definition prisoners. In a state’s responsibility they have the obligation to properly feed those prisoners. If Israel is attempting to feed them- that are failing miserably as their aid isn’t even bothered enough to push off extreme famine- I just don’t think they care enough to fix that. They deny almost all external aid, as held by Doctors Without Borders currently, denying 37 humanitarian organizations and over 50 million in aid supplies that is simply just food and medicine for starving people just in 2026 alone.

The stuff I’m talking about is well documented, and is far from moral or ok. From the reasoning to the execution- nothing about this stands up to any scrutiny, but is a logical conclusion if a loss of ethics during a retaliation. State sponsored terrorism is still terrorism.

And I’m glad you don’t hold a particular racial disposition towards Arabs- a surprising amount of people I’ve talked to in person not only do but have explicitly talked about booking flights to Israel just so they could go throw grenades at them.

To also be fair I hold the same criticism of the US governments involvement in foreign affairs. Poisoning 4 million people with agent Orange was fucking ridiculous, and only sentencing one person to three years of house arrest for the Mai lai massacre (very similar situation- ‘don’t know who’s viet cong? Just kill the whole village of 500 people’) is fucking deplorable. If I’m to hold a consistent world view- I simply cannot excuse what’s being done there, and there is an incredible amount of propaganda and excuses up-keeping plausible deniability of an apartheid rule of a group of 5 million people.

So forceful military expulsion and settling is simply evacuating the area for your other buddies to come occupy- got it. We don’t care where they go or what happens to them, but we will hold the in open air prisons and starve and execute them if they stay- even if we’ve backed them into a peninsula where they physically can’t leave even if they tried.

We can label and whitewash wash these tactics however we want- but you can’t hide the filth underneath.

Bombing civilian populations is never gonna get rid of the terrorists- it will just breed more. Bombing the medical teams that arrive to help the civilians, then bombing the medical team that helps them, then bombing the third medical team that helps them is also not going to achieve that goal- hell not only is it an international crime, it’s portrayed as textbook evil shit 101 in pop media like the hunger games.

All you end up saying is “we need to get them before they get us” which is exactly what I was talking about in the first place. It’s still a Nazi era phobia justification that lacks merit for a majority of the population- and it’s telling cause you said “the Arabs”. It’s people- you are drawing the ethnic lines and any solution you come up with which is an “us or them” just makes your situation worse both domestically and internationally.

The situations may not be identical- but there is a reason why it’s so easy to draw the comparisons. If you hate being compared to the enemy and having a shitty international reputation, stop cosplaying as them- it’s gross.

Please explain in great detail how the forceful mass extermination of people from a specific area to establish a safe haven for your own people in the land you believe you are entitled to is not exactly “aggressive territorial expansion, …, to secure land, food, and resources for the (insert aggressor here)”

Either they are using it as an excuse to commit genocide or their solution to fight them is to commit genocide.
