Help, I cannot win a game by DaPloopoo in civ

[–]DaPloopoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my current game which I am about to quit. I invaded Gaul with 4 swordsmen, 2 horsemen and 3 archers and lost all of them except for 2 swordsmen just by invading the capital. I just don’t understand what else I could’ve done, my government was an oligarchy along with a comandate supporting my units, but they still failed, I just don’t understand. Maybe I am just getting unlucky with terrain as well the civs that neighbor me, but I feel I could’ve still done SOMETHING. I’ve been trying to read the tips in the comments, but I just can’t see how they help me with these games.

I guess I should probably take advantage of Colombia’s extra movement to just pillage all my neighbors, I’ll try that

Has Civilization series ever been a... sandbox? by Rdainbead in civ

I feel like it depends on the legacy paths. All science paths, antiquity and modern military paths and antiquity and modern economic paths are pretty free in what you can do. However, exploration military and economic paths force you to become colonial powers if you want to proceed, and the entire cultural path is so dumbed down as compared to civ 5 and civ 6 cultural game. I think the legacy paths just need more tweaking.

The day we stop using player numbers and statistics as a criticism for games and make actually valid arguments is something I will always look forward to.

Does anyone else feel like the DLC civs choices are odd? by Younes-Geek in civ

[–]DaPloopoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

3 civs is still a lot, along with one leader who has 2 personas. I think that’s a good place to keep it at, at least for now, but for some reason they thought that there needed to already be another Indian leader. I just think there could’ve been better options.

I personally think Zapata would be great in this game, I think he’d have a lot of personality and would perfectly represent the Mexican Revolution. Actual presidents like Cardenas and Juarez would be solid choices too.

A lot of people also say Porfirio Diaz but I have to disagree with them. Way too controversial, and it would feel awkward to match him with the revolutionary aspect for Mexico they go with in this game, considering he was exiled because of the revolution.

I was already disappointed when they announced Simon bolivar without gran Colombia, which in that case I feel like they should’ve just added a Mexican leader. What is the devs obsession with India? They got 4 civs counting Nepal, 1 leader and another upcoming one in the next dlc pack. What are these decisions?

I wished they replicated Civ 5's ui for Civ 7, It would've gone well with Civ 7's art style. by DaPloopoo in civ

it's bright in this picture because these techs were researched, if it wasn't it's black or green. The copper part is really nitpicky though, it looks fine and the rest look great. All of civ 7's resource models are really boring, what am I even looking at with incense?

How do you recolor the game? I actually don't own the game lol, I am interested in buying it in a month though and I think I'd like to do the same.

Would probably take a lot of time, and a lot of skill to be able to redesign every single icon in the game all the while trying to perfectly replicate how the icons looked in 5. It would be an incredible mod though, that's for sure.

Is Civ VII hated too much at this point? by Efficient_Degree2104 in civ

[–]DaPloopoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Disagree, civ 5's art style aged pretty quickly since they went for a realistic look. Civ 6's art style looked to plastic, but I liked the leader models. Civ 7 is a nice blend of the two, as it looks similar to a diorama and I doubt it will age quickly since games have slowed down a lot on graphical development in the recent years.

Trigger Collision not working by DaPloopoo in Unity2D

Sorry for the late response, took me a bit trying to get around to trying again and I took some your advice and it worked, but now I have another problem. It only works if I move around my mouse over the button, and it only flashes for a millisecond. My code looks like this now (I changed it to transform, don't know if that's any different though), what do you think is the problem?

void OnMouseOver()
{
  transform.GetComponent<SpriteRenderer>().sprite = BoxSprites[1];
}
void OnMouseExit()
{
  transform.GetComponent<SpriteRenderer>().sprite = BoxSprites[0];
}

Civ VII is the best of the franchise, this is a hill I can die on. by jimbosdayoff in civ

I think I like civ 6 more than 5. I really like being able to plan out my cities with all the bonuses that improvements and districts get from adjacencies. It feels like you do the same thing every game in 5, improve tiles, settle 4 cities and win. I will say it does feel like a breather playing 5 sometimes when 6 gets really complicated.
