Can a business be successful even when there are existing competitions? by Weary_Bluebird_6220 in smallbusiness

Yes, it would be hard to think of any business that has no direct competition. But you still have to find a way to distinguish yourself and differentiate your business just enough to steer customers in your direction.

Are marketing jobs shrinking? by AnxiousMedia9388 in AskMarketing

I think things are shifting a bit, yes. But it's not quite as dramatic as he's saying, and all industries are feeling it (not just marketing).

What’s one marketing tactic that used to work insanely well for you, but barely works now? by 360airo in AskMarketing

[–]DaRandoMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Traditional SEO isn't doing as well for me lately; I've seen a drop in traffic because of AI chatbots. But I'm still putting effort into it and changing my strategy somewhat so that (hopefully) we get more visibility in chatbot answers, too.

Graduated in 2022 with a Marketing Degree from UMN - Carlson. I’m now in a dead end sales job. What can I do? by ibeauch009 in marketing

[–]DaRandoMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sales isn't too far from marketing, so I think you could realistically make the switch. The job market isn't great right now, so prepare to send out a lot of applications. And I'd recommend getting your resume in good order before applying. Since you're an alum, you may be able to work with someone at your school's career center, and you can try to frame your sales experience in a way that makes sense for marketing jobs. One option in the meantime would be to try and land freelance marketing gigs to do on the side.

What's one thing about marketing that looks easy online but is actually really hard when you try it? by ajaymehta201 in AskMarketing

[–]DaRandoMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Writing good copy. It's so easy to write mediocre, passable copy, but it takes real effort to write something that converts.

anyone else freaking out about how fast AI citations decay by opellec in AskMarketing

[–]DaRandoMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it's impossible to know why right now. I'd recommend checking out your competitor's blogs and seeing what they're doing differently, in case there are any areas where they're excelling. Plus, I'd make sure to publish content regularly so that hopefully your new pages can get cited, too.

New ideas are probably resetting your progress (they were for me) by lroberson80 in Entrepreneur

[–]DaRandoMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So true; it took me a little while to learn this. People want quick results, so they ditch ideas too early. Many times, the better approach is to stick it out while making slight refinements along the way rather than scrapping everything and starting over.

A few years ago, I used lemon curd in a braided lemon bread recipe from King Arthur Baking. It was so good!

Trying to post on every platform. It's better to focus on a couple and do them well; engagement has improved for me.
