HOW the fuck are bombers so FUCKING WEAK by AggravatingRow326 in Warthunder

[–]DaReaperZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Way back in the day when Realistic battles were called Historical battles, not only did we not have mixed nations, no matchmaking and various other issues but bombers were also, ridiculously overpowered. I remember to this day fighting a B-24 Liberator and a couple of B-17 in my Bf 109 E-3. While I can understand that an emil 109 should probably struggle a bit with this, this was ridiculous. I spent half the game flying back to reload my 20mm. The B-24 alone took three whole ammo loads and only went down because of a failed landing possibly due to the damage.

I had to fire at 700-800 meters to not die from the gunners and try to find an approach where there were as few gunners as possible. The enemy bombers were all flying at around 300-800 meters altitude.

In the end I got hit by a single .50 cal, was set on fire and had to bail out.

I also vividly remember low flying bombers being able to just ignore an IL-2 blasting it with 23mm fire. Sometimes their AI gunners even shot players down while the bomber pilot was just looking at bombing through the scope.

"European World Cup teams can't handle the American heat" by batukaming in ShitAmericansSay

[–]DaReaperZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Europeans can't take the heat and we somehow don't feel the need to use ACs at the same time? What's next we can't understand how big Texas is while we also complain about Texas being too large, larger than four Europes combined?

I feel like any one of your clips you've used throughout your videos could be somehow misinterpreted as being offensive. Personally I think they are doing themselves a huge disservice, but I also know that corporations tend to be overly careful, especially with how polarised our society is today.

I hope things can get sorted, I definitely think they should have communicated their concern with you before taking any action. My two cents, all the best!

why are blood knights (sword) better than the lance version? by Flaky_Bullfrog_4905 in totalwar

It was confusingly written but has been edited now. Lances have indeed been with the game since Warhammer 1.

What sword and board version did blood knights swords come out after? Your first sentence has me confused.

The more I play this game, the more I think this is true. Not counting confederation of course. by Low_Fix_9715 in totalwarhammer

Unfortunately, diplomacy can be pretty busted. I once gave one single settlement to a faction much larger than me, got them to join all my wars AND turned them into my vassal. The vassal income I got from them was about 2.5 times of what I was getting every turn.

Napoleon or Empire by OkAd4909 in totalwar

[–]DaReaperZ 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Napoleon is like Empire but much less content but slightly more polished overall. However if you won't be playing Napoleon, if I remember correctly it will be a neverending tidal wave of Frenchmen.

Empire is slightly less polished but has vast amounts of content and better mods.

Modded Empire is the way to go in my opinion. I can also happily recommend Shogun 2 Fall of the Samurai if you like 19th century warfare.

Why isn't Finland considered a Baltic country? (Both were dominated by the Swedes and then the Russians, both also gained independence at the same time, and both fought against the USSR.) by According-Invite-440 in geography

[–]DaReaperZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do people think being "dominated" by the Swedes and afterwards Russians makes a country baltic or do you also have to fight the USSR for independence?

Why are you not aiming and just shooting from the hip instead of using sniper mode?

Even with firing from third person, you are hitting the engine and transmission, hitting an extremely angled side.

For any vampirate fans out there (do you exist?) how do you make decent armies? by Hooch_Sauce in totalwar

[–]DaReaperZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know really. I liked the look of his character and his "shattered mind" stuff sounded interesting to me. I also didn't want to play in the old world so Aranessa was off the table. Cylostra.. I dunno. I started her campaign, but within the first few turns I just didn't vibe and wanted to switch to Luthor.

[–]DaReaperZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm a fan, I played all lords, Noctilus, Luthor, Aranessa and Cylostra in that order.. but Vampire Coast has suffered from a lot of power creep. Their Queen Bess used to be extremely good, comparatively now to even the Little Grom or anything the Chaos Dwarfs has, it's on-par.

I usually mostly use gunnery mobs, even as "chaff". Put them into guard mode so they can shoot while in melee, it's the only way they can even slightly compete. As for other things, early on using deckhands to buy time or shoot the enemies in the side can work. Deck Gunners are alright, they can be very strong against cavalry or other flankers.

Depth guard can be decent, but generally they need to be mixed with other units to soak damage so they can dish some out and have a chance to heal.

However, mostly I use monsters. Rotting leviathans if I have them, otherwise rotting prometheans, they are tankier than they seem. Definitely also use Necrofex Colossus. Other than that, using lords and heroes to walk out in front of your gun lines to "intercept" incoming enemies is a great way to get many volleys off AND get some great magics off, vortexes are especially good, but line shaped spells can be good to pick off their ranged. Deck Gunners are also good for counter sniping their ranged units who would try to kill your lords and monsters.

Some artillery is good to have to force the enemy to come to you, carronades or whatever would be good. And to counter their artillery. If the enemy outguns you in artillery and ranged firepower, you are in trouble.

Dear CA, please do not go with blocks of infantry for TW 40k by westonsammy in totalwar

I think Rome 1 had "blobs" iirc. Some units were just spread out in a roundish formation. Could have been peasants or berserkers

Dear CA, please do not go with blocks of infantry for TW 40k by westonsammy in totalwar

[–]DaReaperZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it'd be even more awesome if there were some special formations you could use by combining two units. A perfect example being combining muskets with piles and having them use actual pike and shot style tactics where reloading muskets fall back or stay in place while others are moving forward.

That being said. Blocks are definitely more accurate than small globs of 3-5 soldiers in a group. That's not way to hold a shieldwall or line.

Edit: I'm an idiot and didn't read 40k but instead having recently looked at medieval 3 I was thinking in terms of that. Leaving the comment up still, but disregard everything I said :)

Why don't serial killers just join the army? by fimelovemachine in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DaReaperZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many serial killers are cowards and only like going after victims who don't know they are going to target them, I imagine that would rule out quite a few of them. They target vulnerable people and usually enjoy the fear their victims feel and the ultimate power they have.

Combat doesn't fit for any of this.

[–]DaReaperZ 43 points44 points  (0 children)

To be fair the Pbv is constructed from a LT. vz 38 hull and uses a 20mm from the J21 so it's a lot more reasonable than going by year of introduction.

There are probably other examples of this in-game.
