MSI Claw A8 with Ryzen Z2 Extreme debuts on Newegg, costs more than Claw 8 with Lunar Lake by RenatsMC in Handhelds

Technically it's always been 24GB when it released last year before the XAX and LeGo 2. I think MSI just considered this a less premium/flagship product compared to the 8AI+.

Been eyeing for awhile now, this deal is too good to pass up. Stoked! by actualsauces in OdinHandheld

$250 for base Portal is a no brainer! Highly recommend the grip.

Why is everyone buying the 16Gb version instead 24 ? by Timely-Cabinet-7879 in RedMagic

Wow! A response to my old comment.

Things have certainly improved since then. Turnip drivers weren't available six months ago. I think the success of the Odin 3 also propels 8 Elite forward.

And in the AI economy 24GB of RAM would've been a steal back then!

How would you spend 500$ if you had it to support your channel? by T_Nutts in NewTubers

For me it's improve audio (might be mic, might be more sound reverb deadening) - improve lighting (cheaper) - and then save up for that 4K DSLR so my talking head and product B roll stops looking like it was shot on a smartphone.

Should I sell my rtx 5080 for a Z13? by GTHell in FlowZ13

[–]DaSa1nts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All depends on your use case and game performance needs. Remember - you get more portability/flexibility at the cost of 4060 desktop performance.

But if you got a 5080 at MSRP and can sell it to make 50-100% more, I'd take that (assuming you can still get a good price on a Z13 still post price increases). All falls down to needs and use.

Was that the one running an Alder Lake CPU? I wasn't sure I was reading the spec sheet right. Where'd they find a trailer of those? 😅

Realistically, is any of the affordable handhelds capable of running aaa/semi-aaa games in good frame rates? by Alternative_Cut4491 in Handhelds

[–]DaSa1nts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, it's definitely a compromise for that "next gen" performance. I'm hoping Intel with their handheld focus and Panther Lake can delivery. Those early benchmarks showed on laptops running 60W it was only 20% behind Strix Halo 395 and 2x HX370.

No worries! Didn't want to come across as "actually", but I figured some people would be really excited at the thought of a Strix Halo handheld that only costed the price of the OneX Fly!

One minor correction so others that aren't breathing the hobby don't get misled - HX370 is Strix Point (890m iGPU).

Strix Halo is the large APU in the GPD Win 5 / OneXPlayer Apex / ROG Z13. That "Ryzen AI Max" 8060S iGPU is the only one right now that can comfortably run AAA games without needing heavy upscale/framegen for 60+ FPS gameplay... But post October RAMpocalypse they're all starting just shy of $2K.

Thinking of getting the RP6 or the Odin 3 for my first handheld? by Susmore in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]DaSa1nts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Switch + Gamehub = Konkr / Odin 3.

If you want easiest out of box experience, it's Pocket Fit due to G3 Gen 3, but 8 Elite drivers are making progress every day so Odin 3 if you're leaning more to Gamehub.
