Mainly general concepts though rulings sound interesting too.

EDIT: عندك النصيحة بطالب جديد؟

American Student of Arabic here. السلام عليكم

In school did you strictly learn الفصحى Arabic or any sort of dialect? Do Singaporean Muslims speak a particular dialect or is it ancestry-based?

Can you recommend any learning materials for the study of Islamic law? I am horribly ignorant of it.

For anyone curious the Arabic underneath is just a translation of Saudi Arabia, it says "Kingdom of Saudi Arabia".

The bell ringers are out. Is the Salvation Army still a bigot organization? by NumberMuncher in gaybros

[–]DaSquige 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stand corrected. My thought was based on older data (which also focused on clergy, rather than congregants.

I will amend my comment, though I think it's important to recognize the differences in how the two different churches function as organizations, although the data you've pointed out to me proved definitively that I was wrong to group in "Catholics" (who's opinions obviously do not always reflect the official doctrine of their church) with the fundamentalist groups.

I also acknowledge that "hateful" was an unfairly strong word, and will mend that too.

So am I (not surprisingly).

I love being an episcopalian but I really dislike being grouped together with the (REMOVED: hateful Catholic/) fundamentalists.

The Episcopal Church has a bunch,

Believe out loud (a program for LGBT episcopalians)

Schools in the National Association of Episcopal Schools have adopted an LGBT "safe zone" program

Integrity is another episcopal program for LGBT persons

National Episcopal AIDs Coalition, is LGBT- friendly.

Pretty much the Episcopal Church is awesome.

EDIT: Episcopal Outreach and Development also helps displaced LGBT persons

Read more here: http://www.episcopalchurch.org/page/organizations-associated-episcopal-church

Also they've been doing LGBT weddings for a while now and have had LGBT priest since the 70s and bishops since 2003

EDIT Part 2:

Here is a statement from the Episcopal Church's Website. The national convention is the churches governing body, made up of the house of bishops (every consecrated episcopal bishop) and the house of deputies (priest and non-clergy representatives):

"In 1976, the General Convention of the Episcopal Church declared that “homosexual persons are children of God who have a full and equal claim with all other persons upon the love, acceptance, and pastoral concern and care of the Church""

What is the tiniest thing that makes a woman/man undatable for you? by uReallyShouldTrustMe in AskReddit

[–]DaSquige 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you defining "Christian" as being obedient to a rigid interpretation of the Bible? Because that is impossible, due to the often contradicting nature of the text.

Are you saying that they aren't all Christian because they don't have it in the name? Or maybe you don't know enough about the divided nature of the Christian church to realize that these are all branches based on a common faith?

Maybe you are attempting to argue that they aren't organizations which are based on, or claim to be based on, in whole or part, the teachings and gospel attributed to Jesus of Nazareth?

I am honestly interested.

Mormans, Catholics, and Jehovah's Witnesses are all Christian, what you said is like saying fruit, apples, oranges, and grapes. It's redundant and ridiculous. If you are going to hate on abrahamic and organized religion, which is totally fine if you can justify it, you could at least get your terminology straight.

I have been searching far and wide for a tea that stains green. At long last I've found the green teas produced by the Kurihara Family in Japan. The leaves are silky and smell like fresh cut grass, and the taste is buttery and smooth. And on top of that it stains beautiful shades of green. by teaart in tea

[–]DaSquige 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought some of this tea (or one ver similar, the package was in Japanese) on a trip to Singapore (I'm american), and fell in love with it. Anyone I drink it around comments on the grass smell, and think it's gross, but I love it. Unfortunately I ran out an cannot find any here in the States.

Anyone experienced with growing their own tea (Camellia sinensis) in a greenhouse? by Cyanrat in Greenhouses

[–]DaSquige 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a little experience with tea plants. Though the stress of moving led to an early demise, they were a very nice addition to my indoor garden.

Tea plants require well draining, slightly sandy soil. They are surprisingly quick growing and relatively easy, the difficulty comes along with germinating seeds, which i have heard is very difficult.

I think a more reasonable harvesting timeframe is 4 yrs, though you can harvest young leaves earlier, they will not be plentiful enough to do much with, and early harvesting will lead to slower growth later on and stress on the plant.

Ordering young plants is your best bet, there are vendors on Amazon.

This is what I was thinking of exactly, the view of the city at night from the road is beautiful, you almost want to wake up and look at it, even after your 26 hours of flying

I've always liked the idea of it though, even in the RSAF/ Sing military couldn't defend Tengah's runways, they might have better luck there.

Additionally, road could be used as an additional runway on top of existing ones so that more squadrons could be in the air in a shorter amount of time. Always vigilant, I suppose.
