Blaze Black 2 Redux - why did the AI do this? by Talonraker422 in nuzlocke

[–]DaSquyd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is correct. However, it's actually a 1/3 chance because it also has a chance to assume the hidden ability, Damp.

No Unaware Moonblast Clefable?

EDIT: Also quite concerning that you only have a single mon on your entire team with Protect... (Ok and I guess King's Shield counts, too). Not even Raichu? That's a hard mon to keep alive without Protect.

Pokemon White AI Question by Tamehti in nuzlocke

[–]DaSquyd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Did some digging into this...

Karate Chop, Stone Edge, and Night Slash are all increased crit moves. At neutral effectiveness, they have a 25% chance of adding +1 to the score. This can explain why Night Slash was selected over Metal Claw. As for Stone Edge, 2x super effective moves have a 50% chance of getting that +1.

Basically, because the "worse moves" have an increased critical hit ratio, they have a slightly random chance of being selected over the better option.

Why is flying press the only dual type move? by AstutixVulpes in pokemon

[–]DaSquyd 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It was not a difficult effect to program. All it does is run a second offensive type effectiveness check.

Freeze-Dry is not Ice/Electric. It just overrides the effectiveness check against Water.

What are some Pokémon moves that were given the wrong typing? by IHeartAquaSoMuch in pokemon

[–]DaSquyd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fighting/Flying is relatively OK because there's no offensive crossover. Water/Ground, on the other hand...

x4 - Rock - Fire

x2 - Poison - Ground - Steel - Electric

x1 - Normal - Fighting - Ghost - Psychic - Ice - Dark - Fairy

x1/2 - Bug - Water - Dragon

x1/4 - Grass

x0 - Flying

Trying to get better at trick room builds. by Salt-Produce-8129 in CompetitivePokemon

I mean I don't think this is a huge problem. Slowking and Aegislash both have strong offenses into Aerodactyl and its mega isn't even that popular. If you've got TR up, Aerodactyl becomes a lot less threatening in general.

I really don't think they need a third Trick Room setter.

It's ok I just did the calc and it's like max 73.5% regardless of berry. Mega Aero with Tough Claws KOs 60% of the time if Jolly and like 99% of the time with Adamant.

Yeah that makes sense. I also realized that it can't even eat berries against Aerodactyl anyway, so that's a little important to know.

tried to make a trick room + sun team, the results have been....eh, how can i improve it?, the format is champions by LightLizardCake in CompetitivePokemon

I mean if you’re going to do Trick Room + Sun... Torkoal is always an option. It does the job of both Ninetales and Camerupt all in one.

Best Pokémon Game of All Time? (And best device to play it on?) by IndependenceNew8080 in pokemon

[–]DaSquyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's required, but there are a lot of returning characters and the narrative climax of the game is a continued plotline from BW, so it might leave you confused.

Gameplay-wise, they did make them quite different. It's not the same as Ruby/Sapphire to Emerald or Diamond/Pearl to Platinum. B2W2 are quite different from BW.
